6 months ago I decided to be a straight natural and I straightened my hair every month for those 6 months. And last week, I literally missed my curls so much and did a Twistout. Barely any heat damage. Being able to have both is what makes us sooooo unique and bomb so experiment. And I have had more shed hair with my straight hair too!

Babe I’m on the same wave .. I’ve been straight for a little over 2 months now. And I love it . I workout as well and I find it easier to maintain my straight hair during workouts vs curly - which is surprising. I’m just tired of boxing myself in .. if I wanna wear it straight, I’m doing it … if I wanna go back to my curly fro, I’m doing it. So I’m excited for this new journey for you! ✨✨✨✨✨

I loved that you touched upon this, because I've been enjoying my hair in straighter styles in the winter months, and rocking the curls during the summer months-like half the year straight, from October to March, and curly from April to September. It's your hair and you should be able to do what you want to do with it without judgement or shade from people in the natural hair community or anywhere else. It's only "our people" that create these boxes for ourselves and then try to chastise others that want to do something different, and then say that they don't like themselves....they don't like their blackness....all of it is nonsense and ridiculous! Good for you to do what makes you happy and enjoy the versatility the God blessed you with!!!

I’m a straight natural who actually came to your channel to learn about heatless styles!! Lol. I’ve been a straight natural for ~6 years and have retained so much length but my curl pattern certainly took a hit (but I used to get relaxers before 😩 so I’ve never known that true natural natural life). Usually in the summers I wear box braids. But now that my hair is so long and voluminous post-relaxer life I was hoping to wear it natural and curly this summer!! Crys, I'm from Dominica, Caribbean island, hope you visit someday! I've been watching you and using most of your product recommendations and following your regimens because our hair is extremely similar and everything has worked for me perfectly. I was a straight natural for about five years before my natural hair journey. Being a straight natural, I would flatiron my hair at only ONE salon every 8 weeks, almost like a chemical relaxer. My hair grew sooo long, it was at waist length, the more I cut it, the more it grew. You have to show it sufficient care as well and I loved it. Ive been natural for a couple of years now and I love my curls equally. Ive also been thinking about going back to straight natural as I get older and especially going into my law career, time will be very limited. All the best on your journey and I will continue to support you whichever route you take.

Took me two years to grow my hair back down to the middle of my back after suffering heat damage. I plan on reintroducing heat again but only warm blow dryer so I can manage my hair easily. Straight hair is easier to manage but using high heat has serious consequences that eventually cannot be avoided. You’ll have to accept those consequences and just love your hair no matter if it’s coily, straight or heat damaged (others like to call it heat trained to lessen the blow of their natural hair not curling up anymore I guess). The fact is: it’s just hair. It’ll grow back (unless you develop alopecia or something). Your hair is gorgeous in straight styles, but the more heat… you know what follows. Just brace yourself for the inevitable and keep it goin. Zoe Saldana never sees her naturally curly hair because she prefers it straightened. The Glam Twins don’t give a lick about heat damage, they’ve been flat ironing and blow drying the heck out of their hair for YEARS. So, enjoy your hair however YOU like it (just make room to learn to love any damage that may come)

Not going to lie my curls are definitely much looser however my hair is strong and my heat protective products work fully. You look beautiful. As someone who has always been natural and alternate between silk presses for the last 6 years, I have no heat damage and like the versatility. For summer you will need heat protective styles, braids etc. You lose 100 hairs a day so I will be obvious when its straight. Also when its straight you can tell when it needs a trim more often than when its curly. Its great to have the versatility and both looks great on you.

Coming from a heat damaged gal, plz deep condition once a week and stretch your hair when using the blow dryer till it’s halfway dry. then use a brush to get the roots or the tymo. Those are my two biggest regrets I didn’t do. I got heat damage after four months even with light use of heat tools and protectant. I’m really sure it had to do with keeping my hair straight for more than a week (no moisture) and the blow dryer+Brush combo. before I used to just air dry then hot brush Or flat iron not sure if air drying is healthier but it definitely kept my curls. it hope this helps.
@je399812 жыл бұрын
Same ! However my process of heat damage was in a different order. Stay away from the blowdryer. It dried my hair even worse and I noticed tapping my hair dry and allowing it to air dry was better. I went back to my old routine my mom used on me as a kid when she washed my hair. I didn't add any oils to my scalp and it caused mad breakage. I guess we live and we learn.

I just make just I have a good protein treatment and a good moisturized treat, to keep my hair strong and moisturized but I notice with blow drying my hair the moisture stays in my hair so much longer. When my hair is blow-dried I wash it every two to three weeks instead of just washing it once a week. How often do you wash your hair when it's blow-dried??? I needed a much-needed break from the curly hair and so far it's been working. Your hair is beautiful and healthy!! Girl, wear your hair how you feel and express yourself the way you want! 👑I am so happy with the fact that my hair is so versatile! I wear it how I feel and love all all styles from the curls to straight to protective and wigs. Keep them guessing ❤️ but remember it is possible to train your hair which may cause a difference in your curly hair pattern. Please don’t feel trapped 💞

I think you will love the TYMO Comb. I have one. My hair is slightly tighter curl than yours and the first time I used it my hair was soooo silky smooth. The key is not to use any heavy leave in, just focus on heat protection and using protien to protect from heat damage. I wore my hair for a month straight and probably could have gone longer but the scalp needed some TLC. I did NOT see any heat damage after washing my straightened hair. I was sure to do an oil treatment before going from straight to curly, that I actully left in for a few days lol.. I used Beautiful Textures Naturally Straight leave-in. ( it does have silicone but has so many good protiens to protection from heat damage) the silicone can be washed out later with a good clarifying shampoo..I hope you have a good experience with the TYMO. Can't wait to see your results.

I’m old enough that natural to me just means you have not chemically processed your hair. So you can wear hair straight and still be natural. All your styles are beautiful 😍 I usually straighten my hair 2-3 times year. But I be missing my curls 😭

Me too, I tried this a few times . I'm not that good at blowdrying my own hair.
