Get when buying set s to get the GWP you may miss out .on geting one ..but most the time I'm lucky finding. Them. At a good price 😊

Started my Star Wars advent Calendar on Dec 10th. Still need to build my last Star Wars GWP. I only have FOMO GWP for Star Wars.

I totally get what you mean from FOMO. The double VIP points and GWP can be enticing. I realized just how much I was waiting for the next one of those to happen to justify purchasing another Lego set especially when the Hogwarts Castle and Grounds skyline set released and you had the option to get two GWPs with it. I decided after some deliberation (and the mine cart gwp being sold out) to just hold off until the next double VIP points happened. This was the best decision for me since it was not just that but it came with the pirate island GWP too. I decided from that point forward to try organize the things I wanted in different wishlists instead of just jumping at the opportunity when a new deal arises. I have a good amount that I really want to get soon but I feel less pressure to buy everything right away as the deal opens. Plus, I gave myself a personal rule that if a set just released, there is no need to buy it Day 1. Give myself a year and see if there is any talk of it retiring soon and focus on the ones that are older and may be going away soon.

To be fair most GWP/VIP sets are worth $20-$40-$100 on bricklink so I personally treat them as a $30-$40 rebate that will hopefull improve in value over time. But yeah I also normally only buy the sets I really want or just make a MOC if I miss out.

@@astrobot3038 Yeah, I watched an analysis about this by lego traders a while ago. People probably have gold-nugget fantasies about it. If you look realistically at profit expectations, you have to also count time invested, storage space, etc. There are hardly any profits, and one should only do it if you enjoy the whole investing trading process. Best think for lego is just to build / display / play 🙂

I definitely had FOMOGWP. I'm a bit better now. Lego price rises and my house space decreases means I've started to put potential purchases on a list and then try to sit on the list for at least 3 months. Any non-exclusive (like speed champions) will usually be 20% off at that point, and for others that I don't *love*, the delay to purchase sometimes means I skip them entirely. Note: I still have way too much lego for the space I have to display it

Your problem is that you are buying from different themes. I guess you already know which theme I like lol. Besides its funny how in US ppl run to Lego store to buy GWP. Here in Europe if you wait just few weeks you can get new stuff for like 20-25% off (50% off after few months) and we just buy GwP on 3rd party sites. Its way cheaper than buying stuff even from the theme you like just to get GwP.

I own the original Black Falcon castle from the 80's (I'm 45), I still think it is a very cool build. I couldn't care less about that microcastle piece of trash, why would anyone want that? I know, it is subjective.. And maybe I am doing it wrong / different? I buy some of the rare or random stuff on bricklink. So I got a couple of cool (castle theme) CMF from there. You can just pick the one you want. I got the forest hideout as GWP, but it is also widely available on bricklink. I also got some used (but new looking) old school lion and falcon knights. I have no FOMO, you can just buy the stuff 30 years later if you want.. 😅😅

I've got a backlog, so I stopped buying Lego. But Lego has one last trick - EXPIRING POINTS. I don't know when or how points 'expire', but I got a 'helpful' email from Lego telling me about that. And there I was, a few days before the points were to expire at our local Lego store. But yeah, have you ever mentioned what you might do with your points? I was going to use them to discount a big price lego set, but I've even kept putting that off.

I try to limit my FOMO GWP to purchases to only exclusive/sale items so that I can tell myself I'm "rational." I've been able to muster the fortitude to pass on a couple GWPs but it's tough to go cold turkey.
