I have ADHD, and gabbie using ADHD as and excuse is stupid. For 1, ADHD isn't an anger management thing, it literally stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. And 2, just because she's an asshole, doesn't mean she has ADHD.

ADHD causes you to zone in on things. It does not make you unkind. I have both ADHD and Autism. They are not excuses. It's upsetting she is using it to excuse being cruel. I started watching Cinima Therapy. I think it teaches good mental health habits and understanding.

I learned different ways, and I still have a problem with getting myself in trouble defending others. Like, physically defend, I got into a lot of fights protecting kids who I knew couldn't take a hit, I can take hit but not really dish them out. One of the guys I defended from a teacher thanked me a couple months back, but I felt really weird, I haven't really talked to anyone but my family after I dropped out, so when I talk to people or try to make a video I get this weird drop feeling in my stomach, and start to choke up. Anyways, it doesn't happen when typing these comments, anonymity I guess.

I've never heard of this person or drama before, but as another person with ADHD (wow there are a lot of us in this comment section) ADHD doesn't directly cause bad behavior. It causes impulsivity, which can lead to making bad decisions, but impulse obviously can't be blamed for every poor decision you make. It can help to explain bad things you might've done, but that doesn't mean it excuses it. Like, if you had a horrible day at work and lashed out at a family member when you got home, you've got an explanation for your actions but not an excuse. Even if ADHD increases her impulsivity, it's worrying she has the impulse to hurt others in the first place. I get impulsive when stressed, but rather than lash out I tend to more self-destruct, like the time my friend was flirting with her bully so, in the middle of the school courtyard, I poured water over myself, collapsed to the ground, and repeatedly hit bottle against my head while sobbing (ahem-). Even so, ADHD hardly causes people to do malicious things. It mainly causes a low-attention span and hyperactivity, which can be hard to deal with, and it sucks that she's making it out to be more of 'it forces me to hurt people and i can't help it.' Anyway those are my two cents. ADHD doesn't usually cause mean behavior, and even when it does, it's an explanation not an excuse.

I want to add a new perspective on the 4 responses to bullying. A few years ago I was in a class that was...fucked up to put it bluntly. That was also the year that we got new kids for the first time in a few years. Theres particularly this one boy. He started off the year saying "Oh don't hate yourself." He sais that cause I had quite a bit of social anxiety. Fast-forward to maybe 3/4 or the year. The same boy as we were working in the library said out loud to everyone. "She doesn't care what we say about her." I didnt realize this at the time but I now see i turned into their punching bag. They never got tired of it. So from my experience just "letting it happen" did NOT work and I really had no where to go because in reality it was the majority of my class. I often look back and think what could I have done differently?
@UltraMarineBlue
@UltraMarineBlue 3 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry that happened to you, and yeah, letting it happen doesn't do anything :/ but try not to linger too much in the past, it's not like it was you who did anything wrong. If something like that happens, just try to remember that you don't deserve to be treated like that, and maybe tell someone about it? Good luck in the future either way ^^

I actually don't really get much into the Gabbie Hanna drama often, mostly because I try to avoid KZbin drama in general if I can (it triggers my anxiety a lot, this has been tested way too many times), but I've always been pretty mutual on her drama. Mostly because I don't learn much about the situation (so I tend to just not lean towards any side, and just think that both parties have done wrong). But I had NO idea she was using ADHD as an excuse. That upsets me so much. I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was in Grade 2 (and a couple more times later in life), and have struggled with it ever since. To this day, I'm still learning so many new things about ADHD, that have made me realize how many people have this huge misconception of what ADHD truly is, and what are many things connected to it. To think that someone like her is fueling this upsets me greatly.

so true, I've got that bipolar junk. accountability is important for my managing my disorder, I'm always putting myself in check, keeping myself as even as i can mentally. and when something fails, I take the responsibility. its not always my fault, but my illness is my responsibility, not the onus of the people around me. I'm old and learned now, so Ive mastered the assertiveness I need (to a degree haha).

I just want people to know what I have been through. People can be cruel sometimes. I never use my disorders to tell people to leave me alone. I just say "hey, I'm just unique and that's all." I do not know Gabbie, but based off what I have heard she does not take accountability for her actions and returns hate back to bullies. I believe in the good of others and hope she takes accountability for her mistakes without excuses and changes for the better. However, if she doesn't that is on her, and it shows the type of person she is. It isn't always easy being kind but it shows what type of person you are if you try to be. If we act the same way as our bullies we risk becoming them. We can't change others, but atleast we don't have to act like them. We can be better. Stay kind and be heroic to others.

People can go about their days. They can do as the please, one might think. But when it begins to hurt them, they take action. Why? Because that's how we tell them that we don't want to walk this Earth with someone like them. To voice your opinion is a wonderful thing, is it not?
