I found one of these in the basement the other day. I can only assume it's my late grandfather's. Never knew he had one, but I don't think he even knew he had it by the end. It still had the auction sticker from when he bought it.

I was given one of these from a friend who passed away it had been his "all around shotgun"for much of his 50 plus hunting career. Mine is 16 gauge, built on a 12 gauge frame as was the 20,it is spartan, heavy, ungainly, swings like a 2x6 points okay the left barrel tends to shoot a little high and left barrel a little to low.never had an issue with the trigger guard or the trigger alignment just with the the ghastly heavy trigger pull. This is my "meat and taters shotgun"or truck gun beater..and it has never let me down its as tough as nails and built like a bank safe it will digest and spit out steel,lead,notoxic,bi-metal with out an issue and with accuracy to ensure a clean hit-I had the barrels reamed out to IC and IM.my favorite steel load is 15/16 ounce of 2 shot its death on ducks out to 40 yards,i got a deal on bismuth shot when ti first came out in the 90,s i ounce of 4 or 6 was deadly on waterfowl as well as a pheasants an partridge. My favorite lead load is 1-1/8 or 5 or 6 for upland out to 40 yards i even found some old 1-1/4 magnums in 5 shot at a gunshow got 4 boxes.to sum it up this gun was built for the working man on a budget a gun that could take the abuses of waterfowl hunting to being banged around the in thick cover for pheasant or sitting in a goose pit.I love mine and feel its a most underrated shotgun that was american made

In my observation the 311a has a tendency to crack stocks. This on the other hand is just robust. Couldnt turn one down for 400 doll hairs. I do also like to abuse myself and shoot buck shot out of both barrels so this is up my alley

Looks to be a solidly built gun. At the end of the depression, not that many people could afford a fancy shotgun, so getting something that worked & didn't break the bank was important.

I bought my Winchester model# 24 off of a an old friend and coworker who had had it for 40+ years and hardly ever shot it. As an appreciative owner of this fine American piece of history with dual triggers, I don't appreciate these self proclaimed gun experts talking bad about the old girl like they have. But if you take your gun advice from a bunch of hoity toity gun snobs wearing piece suits whose mothers probably wiped their ass until they were 14 years old, then that is on you. This thing is built like a tank and shoots the same today as it did 80 years ago, try that with your Mossberg 590, ain't going to happen. It locks up firm and swings way better than a 2x6 on flying objects. My ol' gal is choked in full and modified and will reach WAY out there. Playing around on the skeet field @ station 7 you can let the low house fly as far as it will go and sink to about a foot off of the ground in the next field over, then shoot and break it as it sinks down to within a foot of the ground. I have also popped a dove flying straight away at 92 yards, no exaggeration. This is one of my favorite shotguns. It is a timeless working man's friend.

The Model 24 is my favorite double. The lines of the receiver just always caught my eye. I couldn't attain one, especially in 16 gauge. So I settled on a 16g Stevens 311c.

I've shot a 21 at the skeet field with mine. Although 19 is closer to my average with #6 shot cheap ammo. I am not a pro or anything btw.

I wouldn't say mine is in great shape however it's serial number 1964. How would that affect the value?
