@@bryqi2229 league pattern is your typical house pattern which is easy as fuck to bowl on. I bowl one handed and did 2 handed once and got 234. Its easier two handed then one.

@@ericpadilla2454 If I wanted to talk about house pattern i would’ve just said THS. Unless you go to some Bowlero or run down alley, your non-beginner leagues will have a different pattern. Also, in terms of easiness, sure, easier to hold the ball with two hands lmao. It’s still the same fundamental of staying behind the ball & hitting your target. If we want to talk about easiness, I could just keep throwing the ball straight at the pocket or to pick up 7/10 pins & do good as well. Revving the ball more doesn’t mean it’s easier to score more.

I had a triple 6 series recently and kinda chuckled. My last four weeks on Thursday night league, I'm averaging 214 so, pretty happy about that. Just wish I was having the same success on Friday night. Season averages are 200 Thursday and 189 Friday. Your 2 handed game, Darren, I'd say is a 7 out of 10. Keep it up, bro!

Legit question: Do you think that it would be legal to have a thumbhole drilled for the IT system, but to plug it with an undrilled thumb slug when you want to use it without the thumbhole? Assuming you have a way to remove it and everything else is normal/legal

Spreading your hand can lead to injury depending on how much pressure your putting on your fingers. If you are snappy on the release its very strenuous on your knuckles. I had to swap to a karate chop kind of grip because my hand was hurting outside of bowling. Nerve damage is serious, so anyone reading this please heed this advice. A little extra ball control is not worth weeks of joint pain or possible permanant damage

Solid 7.5/10 for the 2h game. A lot of the thumb in technique comes through in the fundamentals but there's some things for 2h that aren't there. Still averaging 225 for something you don't do every day is very impressive

@darren (or anybody, really) - I noticed that you shoot your left side single-pin spares (e.g. 4 pins) going straight up the lane rather than across. I've been having issues throwing plastic across my body at 4s and 7s. Is there a good primer somewhere on the sorts of stand-and-target spots for throwing up the lane at those?

Here’s how I shoot my four and seven pins. I stand at ten board (second dot from the right), and I try to hit in between ten and fifteen board. I also don’t change my hand position from my strike shot, as it helps me if my ball can hook a little just to give me that extra boost.

@@JROWE2 I currently use Triax which is essentially a 3-6-9 but rather than hooking at things just throwing straight at them. I want to be able to take oil out of play entirely for easy spares.

For two handed bowling it helps to drill the holes with a ton of reverse pitch so it saves fingers from bleeding

Do you have any tips for wrist pain? I am getting back into bowling and the last few times I have been my wrist and index finger have been killing me. I think some of it is probably how I throw at spares (break my wrist back and kinda fling it) to get the ball to go straight. I am wondering if I should get something like the master wrister and take a few weeks off? It gets so bad after bowling that I can barely pick up anything with my right hand for about a day or two

If you throw the ball upside down, and I’m not sure if you mean the fingers come out first and then the thumb or if you mean throw it with the pin on the bottom of the ball, but either way the ball is not really going to do much. It’ll take forever for the ball to create a roll.

For me I've had to slow down my push away and third step to fix my timing. I can still throw it 26mph at spares but I needed less speed and more confidence in the shot. I still bowl my first ball at 15 to 16 sometimes 17 if it's dry.

Got two balls drilled at a Vegas over the summer when I attended the open championship this last summer now full time in two handed in league multiple games in 260’s and highest 297 amazing it’s drilled for a sport shot lanes and working great on a house pattern I crank the heck out of it though good smooth form I like it your gliding out there
