I mean I would say they should be closer to family to help with the baby. Maybe a house in Florida. Arizona is quite expensive, especially the rent so I don’t know if someone would take the buyout considering another place might be higher rent and the moving costs.

I will be honest with you as someone who came out of the same situation. I think what you feel is not directly caused by the construction or Miami; I think you miss the routine life you had in Arizona and being productive. To be with a baby in a new home and in a new environment, it’s a lot to process. That may be where all the feelings came from. In this stage, you guys should be aware of this emotion, and it’s okay to feel like that after all these changes in your life within a short period of time, I love you and you’re fabulous 🥹♥️.

When the baby is on the move, it’s different. The newborn phase is easier in the sense that you park him and he doesn’t move….when he starts moving….you will get tired faster. Everything will fall into place. The first months are rough. I can only imagine how much worse it is with construction outside your window every day. We also moved back home from AZ to be closer to family when baby was born in January. We still miss it but we’re so conflicted on if we’d go back now because we also love how much support we have here from our families that we know we won’t have there if we go back. Just visits with grandparents or having family over to play with him. It’s just so nice to us that they’re only a drive away.

I think some of the people that were freaking out about the move a while back only had things like this in mind. There's such a big emphasis on creator support that people were getting backlash and being called "unsupportive" for advising against the move. At the end of the day, this just seemed like one of those cannon events that y'all had to go through to bounce back better than ever; plus, like you said, family support through pregnancy is unparalleled. So sorry you're dealing with the construction issues and lack of sleep, rooting for your little family forever!

I just moved to Arizona from Texas and I get what you say about the peacefulness and less traffic. It’s so chill and such a vibe! Beautiful mountains ❤ a lot of people say you need family and it’s true but I feel like men nowadays help so much. I have 2 kids and felt like I would need my mom all the time but my hubby helps so much and we are on the same terms of how we want to raise our kids because family will sometimes intervene in how you raise them. We lived out in Pennsylvania with no family and had such a blast and felt very secure in our parenting so don’t let ‘not having family close’ stop you from moving out of state ❤

@@lillytopp7746I guess if you take what she said completely literally rather than contextually then I guess. But most people who can absorb what they read and realize the idea behind what someone is saying know that the person you are replying to is inferring that new parents that can get into a groove with parenting and keep the relationship in tact have higher rates of a successful relationship in the future. This absolutely makes sense because the couple is learning coping skills at a fast level during the first few years of raising kids, therefore giving them skills to deal with difficult times in the future.

The no sleep thing is so hard. Me and my husband bikered so much and we never argued before. At 4 months baby started sleeping through the night and our relationship got so much better. My biggest regret is not asking for help. I’m so independent, I felt I needed to be able to do everything myself even though people offered to help.

Girl! I can’t even imagine what you’re going through. Honestly my advice (not that you asked), is to hire a lawyer and see if there is a way you can get out of your lease early without any fees or anything. I mean it’s worth those fees too at this point! Contact the renters living in the AZ home and give them sufficient notice. The lawyer will also help with this to make sure you’re not out of bounds. Idk what the regulations are but if it’s 1 or 2 months that’s enough time for you to… GET EXCITED!!! This time it’s time to merge those two experiences. AZ home decor was too “bland” for you guys which I totally understand. The Miami apartment gives the edgy Latin flavour but the city itself is not the vibe for you guys. Marry the two! Bring the Miami furniture to the AZ house. No need to hire a decor team or anything like that but I LOVE how you toned down the apartment decor (you chose more neutral walls in the bathroom for example) and the main standout pieces are the furniture! The transition won’t be that hard guuurl just hire another (better) moving company and you’ll get the funky furniture with the more subdued finishings the AZ house already offers. It’s technically already a blank slate! I just realized I’m focusing a lot on interior decor (can you tell I love it) but I also know it means a lot to you in terms of having a home feel authentic and homey. I feel that’s what you guys are after. So… 1. Lawyer up bestie or do your research on how to proceed. 2. Notify AZ tenants, organize for movers, hire painters to paint apartment back (or make it a family event! Everyone paints a wall!) 3. You can even hire an interior designer on Fiverr (what I did) to help you marry the two and make the AZ home feel EXACTLY how you want it. 4. Kind of contradicting my last point but… making a home look a certain way takes yearsssss so be easy on yourself. The most important thing is that it feels comfortable. Ask yourself “what needs to get done to make this house feel like home?” And “ what can I do in the meantime to feel more comfortable where I am now?” Maybe that includes wearing noise cancelling headphones. Does the baby monitor turn a different color if the baby cries? If not maybe find one that does so you don’t feel like you have to have your ears always accessible!!

Offer the tenant in AZ a month or two of free rent if they would be willing to find a new place... if they can't or don't want to and you're moving back to AZ in May anyway I would just move now and rent somewhere until your house opens back up, most likely way cheaper than Miami, too so you'll save some coin in the mean time..

Just wanted to say that arguing with your spouse the first year with a new baby is normal. I joined a postpartum support group and we all have talked about this and how it gets better with time.

You two are incredible. Thank you for the raw and real content - it truly inspires me to be better to my partner and myself. Have you tried the loop ear plugs? Amazon them - the $45-50 pairs for you asap - and just have one of you use them during the day to nap. You have to take a moment to get used to hearing your breathing with plugs, but it’s a brief period!! Keep at it!! Makes me so happy to see loving homes 🩵🩵🩵 best wishes to you, Rio.

You should see what the realtor company that’s managing your Arizona home can do. Maybe the current tenant would be willing to move early but may be some negotiating. Worth a try.

I have an opposite opinion from most people here. I moved from the center/ downtown to the suburbs when I had my newborn. First few weeks: great, felt like the perfect decision. Afterwards aka 4 months later: finally used to being a mom, craving the city, meeting with friends, going out for appointments easily, etc. Ended up moving back to the city center a year later and never went back. I’m pregnant with my second now and the expectation for the first pp months is: not gonna leave the house. Will I question alllll my life choices? Probably. But now I know that’s how post partum goes. You’re doing a great job, Lauren.

Watching y’all yawn 🥱 is so real. That newborn sleep deprivation hits different. Can’t imagine the construction on top of that. It gets better with baby and you won’t be up so often by 6 months. We just hit that mark and you’ll be there soon too! ❤

Lauren it is so good to see you! I know this is isn't similar AT ALL but I just started law school and my freedom was kind of ripped from me lolol. The only thing getting me through this first semester right now is that I know it will never be this new again. I can imagine being a new mom kind of feels the same when everything is changing and you can't get a grip on life so I am extending that advice to you because it has brought me so much peace over the last 10 weeks

Is buying in south Florida not an option for you guys ? You guys should check out the Davie area /southwest ranches. It’s the perfect neighborhood for a family. Feels like the country but you’re actually right there in the city. You see people riding horses, there are great parks and farmers markets and it’s so calm.

Age 1-3 is when you need family support and help the most. Because the little kid will have to follow you everywhere and will cry if you leave him. Maybe choose a place closer to parents like potentially same neighbourhood. It doesn’t have to be as fancy just more convenient.
