I know this is my entitlement speaking right now, but I'd totally go over the road if I could get one of those sweet trucks with an RV style camper in the back. I lived in my travel trailer for a couple of years, and we're moving back into it pretty soon, but if I could have that kind of home away from home, I think both me and my wife would team up to drive.

Well Dave some flat bed drivers do back up to docks. Some things they haul have to be driven onto their trailers. They're not always loaded from the side.

Lol that last lady. Surprised they are on pallets, like what else would they be on to go in a trailer? Asks if you have a pallet jack, like as if you have a secretive pallet jack storage spot in the cab... But she sounded funny and nice at the end of the day. Great vid Dave!

Haha, that cracks me up. I love people that are like that. You don't know what's going and neither do they, but you both know you have to get the job done and at the same time they're straight up with you on how they're feeling - even if it's not great. Typical contract work 😂

I delivered to a solar farm that was expanding in Searcy,AR the escort led down a track that was little more than ruts in the mud. They unloaded me off a temporary dock that could be moved. I slung mud on top of my tanks underneath the cab. I went from there to a truck wash and there was still mud under the truck six months later.

I can remember going to dumb places and having to do weird things to get in/out. Narrowturn at a place in Arkansas and they said they had trucks/trailers in there; what they means was pickups with goosenecks about 30 feet shorter than I was. A place in PA where I had to take a road sign out of the dirt and then put it back when I got done. A place in Wisc. that had JUST had their lot redone and it was not cured. The only door for the stuff I was carrying was on the far side of that lot and I tore the hell out of the seams between the slabs. It happens. You make the best of it, and carry on, which is what it seems you did here.

That's how a lot of truck is unloaded in Europe, especially smaller companies. Though it's a curtainside trailer, which basically a flatbed if you look it that way.

I’m a flat bedder that used to drive a dollar store account with dry van. Now it feels like all that backing I used to do went to waste. lol. We still have to back at some places, like into warehouse loading doors and such so they can crane steel coils or rebar onto the trailer. But most of the backing we do now is just to get parked for the night at a truck stop.

Pretty much never. Haven't unloaded here at Online. At CFI, I think two times I assisted in unloading in a year and a half span.
@SomethingEpic777 Жыл бұрын
Nice. I'll see if I can get hired on by Online or CFI then! Trying to (re-)start my trucking career on the right foot; Spent a week with a company that ended up having me hand-unload nearly 30k-lbs (no pallets, no dollies, only crappy "rollers"). Needless to say, I realized right-quick that _if_ im going to unload the trailer, i'll only do it if im able to get a tanker-job.
