@Kioxx74 жыл бұрын
Mourinho was the spark? What? The spark was them rebranding the First Divison into the Premier League in 92 and Sky giving them a huge TV deal which gave clubs money to bring in international names. Just look at who was playing for English clubs at the start of the 90's and compare it to who was playing for English clubs at the end of the 90's. Night and day difference. Abramovich wouldn't have even bought Chelsea and Mourinho would have ended up somewhere else without all of that.

A couple of months later he got sacked because he was with the old regime and We saw him winning everything with the rivals. I had a conversation with my mate a couple of years ago and remember when I told you letting him go was the worst mistake Benfica ever made?
@Spect3r.4 жыл бұрын
I am not a Benfica supporter, but to be fair... Shortly after Mourinho came in, Benfica had elections and a new president was voted in. Mourinho wanted the new president to assure him a 2 years contract and the new president only wanted to give him 1 + option. Mourinho wanted a safe project, but the new president was going to be in hot water if things didnt went well. Plus Benfica was a mess financialy at that time, they couldnt take the chance of having to pay to fire a coach and then spend more money hiring a new one.
