Being able cook amazing food, have a good time (enjoy the small things) and survive everything our beautiful but harsh state throws at is in our blood down here in Cajun Country. Why ya think we have so many festivals .... Cajuns were sent down to a part of the country where survival wasn't really expected. So getting together, cooking some good food, and kicking our shoes off and having a good time in celebration that we made it through another week is branded in who we are as cajuns. It's not a job that we could/can just clock out of its a way of life and we learned to cope by celebrating the small things ---> "Laissez les bons temps rouler" is how we deal with things 😆 We work hard, so we can play hard!!

I had the best dinner of my life in New Orleans. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name and couldn't find it again if I tried. It was down a dark alley and up some stairs and it didn't look like there should even be a restaurant there, which probably describes many of them. But they sure knew how to make a meal!

I have two co-workers from Louisiana that cook for everybody once a month and everybody kicks them a few bucks. I think it's a law that if you're from Louisiana, you have to be a good cook.

I do not understand how you don't have several hundred thousand subscribers! Your videos are such a joy to watch. The things you are choosing to experience, here in the U.S., are a really nice mix of education and entertainment. I was so excited, several videos back, when you went to Old Sturbridge Village, and then the drive in theater, in Mansfield, CT. I grew up in Sturbrudge, and live very close to that drive in. My daughter used to live above the package store near the drive in entrance. At any rate, thank you for making these videos. I enjoy them very much.

Hi Marie, I think that may have been your best adventure yet, I really enjoyed it. Your airboat guide was great and very knowledgable. But I kept worrying that big old gator was going to jump up and grab my favorite French girl! You're experiencing parts of America most of us don't have the time or money to see, so your videos are a fun way to explore new things.
@CarlGorn23 күн бұрын
You keep a gator fed with your lunch, you generally don't become its lunch.
@charlesbrown448311 күн бұрын
Gators aren't generally aggressive toward humans. The true wild gators are much more afraid of you than you are of them, they're quick to run away if you get too close. These farm raised gators know you're not a danger, rather you bring them food. Of course any gator is always still dangerous, but it's not like a crocodile. You won't see people playing games like this with the crocs.

You must find it fascinating that your countrymen of old, the Acadians, chose the swamps of Louisiana and Alabama Bayou to settle in and create a whole new culture. One very much appreciated in America.

The airboat captains are all interesting people, I've known a few of them. They have big personalities, and are highly knowledgeable. In fact, one of those airboat tour guides, Jeremey Dufrene, is married to the singer, Lana Del Ray.

What a fantastic life you are living. I have been fortunate to travel to 45 of the 50 states, and have not done or seen some of the places or trips or events that you have. Keep i up! Glad your enjoying my home state! I was born and raised in Louisiana. My mothers side came to Louisiana in 1700 from France, my first ancestor Sur Pierre Rachal St. Denis (born 27 Jan 1697 - St Denis, France. Died 17 Apr 1756 - Natchitoches, Louisiana ) came to build a fort (Fort Natchitious) to stop Spanish incursion into the area in what was then French Louisiana. He also helped establish Fort Rosalie in Natchez, Mississippi. My Dad's side came from England arriving in Virginia in 1685. We are also a Pioneer family in Brookhaven, Mississippi, I see Mississippi is on your itinerary as well. I look forward to your next adventure in the Deep South.

"Polk Salad Annie, Gator's Got Your Grannie, Chomp, Chomp !" ...from the song, "Polk Salad Annie" (1968. -- originally sung by Tony Joe White, & later covered by 'the king' himself.) Whenever I see an airboat, I'm reminded of the line from TBBT, when Penny mockingly referred to a full-scale replica of a time machine ( from the iconic movie of the same name), as looking like something that Elton John would drive through the Everglades. Kudos on your latest adventure !

Wow!! Marie 😳 ⚜️ 🐊 Livin wild on the Bayou , What a Rush 🍃🚤 hold on tight , Ha ha your face says it all. It really is like being in another world that time forgot gliding through the cypress trees. Chad was a great guide & sure did know everything about Gator's , what a thrill to get that up close to one , looks like he's had plenty of experience & can handle him. It's super cool you got to hold a hatchling calling out to it's moma , it's fascinating learning all about there Anatomy. What sex they are is determined by what temperature it is , there eyes glow red in the dark & the males roar to attract a mate. There definitely badasses when it comes to fighting , it's remarkable that they can leap that high , you don't wanna mess about & find out , how gruesome to eat one another. I'm guessing you know about the death roll after watching Crocodile Dundee , it wouldn't surprise me if there are character's like that in the Swamps. It's said if your being chased by a Gator it's best to run zigzagging because they tire easily. I'm also glad you spotted a 🦅 Nest. Your club 🌮 looked delicious , all the flavors they have there must have made a lasting impression 😋 I'm Happy you had a blast exploring more of the Bayou & ha lived to tell the tail , that's a good feeling being tired. Merci beaucoup for the wonderful series , looking forward to your return to the sunshine state & Airshow hope you go onboard a WW2 Bomber , a Mustang P-51 would be amazing & eventually visit Daytona Beach Speedway vroom vroom or the Kennedy 🚀 Center. Enjoy all the sights traveling cross country in your marvelous mustang. God speed , take care on the freeways , God speed Au Revoir Marie 😁 💞✌️✨

Most people in this world, would no way put their hands anywhere near that Gator's mouth. It's so cool to see people who have absolutely no fear. The feeling that you had holding that baby gator and playing with it like it's pet cat, was super cool and awesome. It's probably hard for you to actually believe that you did that. You are definitely living a dream. I think your one that has no fear. I think you need just some experience with something untried, then you're good to go and totally enjoy the experience.❤😮

His boss won't care. Passing through and over that terrain is exactly what it is made for. They have to be made super durable, because the last thing somebody would want is to hit a floating log or pass over something that damages the hull of the boat and they get stuck deep in the swamp cus there ain't no walking back. Up until recent years people didnt carry cell phones and VHF radios only reach so far so calling for help was not an option (still not really an option cus cell service out there is nonexistent....no cell towers ->no service)

I have a friend who worked as an airboat tour captain for a couple of years, he once told me about one of the other guides that he worked with. More often than not, when this other guy would return to the dock, at least a couple of the passengers on his boat would be wet and muddy, and they would all be jacked up with adrenaline and talking about what an adventure it was. So Devin asked the guy "What is going on here?" Dude told him, if he feels that he has the right people on his tour, he gets the airboat "stuck" in the mud/marsh. Then he'll get at least a few of the passengers to go in the water/marsh to "push" the boat free. LOL. It's virtually impossible to stick an airboat! The folks never had a clue that he was just putting on a show, but he got the biggest tips and best Google reviews out of any of the other guides. Hey, if it works, and people enjoy it!
