I’m quite conflicted with this story to be perfectly honest. Even after all she suffered, I feel like if it was me, I’d still have massive guilt for not doing what’s right. I don’t know… it might be my superstitious brain talking, but I think I’d still try to help without being known. He’s obviously abused and mentally ill because of that abuse. Who stays sane after abuse?! I mean I’d probably die twice if this was my story. 😅

One thing you should know; hurt people hurts. Because they are in pain, sometimes they will hurt others like a twisted need to share that pain. But just because they are hurting, it doesn't mean you should accept their abuse. When you want to help people, you also have to understand that you are opening yourself to possible manipulation and emotional blackmail. In this case, he's taking advantage of her kindness towards him. Besides, helping him isn't going to change anything. In this case, he will only see it as his right and he will probably emotionally manipulate you to keep on helping him before also emotionally abuse you for not doing more for him. He will suck you dry and leave you for the grave. The fact that you said you will carry a massive guilt is already a sign for him to continue pressuring you to keep on giving. So you really should be careful. People like you are often target for domestic abusers.

@@inbetween1-042 I completely agree. I’m not great with explaining myself. I’m fully aware that my guilt factor would be a problem. Like you said, watching people hurting hurts, and that care can put me (and others like me) in vulnerable/dangers situations. I don’t know if it’s perky superstition or partly OCD or schools/the news jamming the “watching and being a bystander is accomplice” thing rattling by brain. I’d probably still be stupid (fully aware of the stupidity) and try a round about way. I would like to hope that the anger factor would over power any sense of my moral and guilt factor so I don’t repeat such tragedies. But I’ve probably just read too many of these stories and think little things can change major events.
