No one helped it. They prolonged its death. After collisions you can almost guarantee 99 percent chance it's gonna die, slow and painful unless you kill it. The thing to do when you hit a deer is to shoot it (quickest way) or to cut its throat so it dies within seconds. That or if you can't, call the proper authorities to come out to do a dispatch on the animal so it won't suffer.

legally you can't put it down after hitting it sadly. You have to wait ages for authorities to come and decide but it will also go to some food shelter probably. Also the deer hit you. You didn't hit it, to make it clear for your insurance so it doesn't sound like you purposely rammed it or wasn't paying attention

WOW, obviously he DOES NOT KNOW ... the position of grabbing a hurt deer is IMPORTANT, even wounded, they can deliver a nasty reflex kick. I've heard a few times that hunters or people who have hit a deer and go to grab it to move it and take a nasty kick to the: NUTS, CHEST ,THROAT or FACE. And get seriously hurt.

Or he could have shot it, chances are he was carrying a firearm. You don't have to be an expert hunter to dispatch an injured deer with a bullet to the back of the head. Far kinder than leaving it in the central reservation to die in agony. I'd have called wildlife control, done this and then taken the deer home for dinner as long as it's ok with them, so nothing goes to waste.

The deer would have been killed at 55mph anyway. I was biking out in the country, and going down a very steep road, when a deer ran out. I slammed on my breaks, and my bicycle skidded. I missed the deer by about three feet. I think if I would have hit him on my bicycle, I would have been seriously injured.

If you feel bad about it, consider this - most wild animals, if left to grow old naturally, will eventually become crippled. When that happens, they are slowly consumed by the other wildlife, often while they are still alive. You likely saved this animal from suffering that fate.

At night time I always go less than the maximum speed, the maximum speed is for perfect conditions, driving at night isn't perfect conditions so you need to go slower, only someone with no brains would go faster at night time.

After hitting it at around 60 mph ( you were trying to stop but still hit it at speed). How it flopped around when trying to get up and eventually just stopped moving when you came over.
