What is going on in the UK? Your sentences on horrific actions have pathetically light sentences. I saw the interview with the gentleman who had acid thrown in his face in 2014 and his assailant was out in less than five years with an act that will scar him for life. Gang rapers aren't getting much in the way of sentences comparable to their crimes. Home owners will be charged with murder if the kill someone breaking into their home, while a thief can sue a homeowner if they are injured committing a crime. The UK's justice system is seriously fucked up.

@@B-A-L Multiple life sentences is sending the message that the crime was so heinous that they would be spending the rest of this life and the next in prison (if it were possible), while also guaranteeing that the person is not getting out for good behavior or parole. In the US, someone can get a life sentence but be eligible for parole in 20 or 25 years -- that will never happen with multiple life sentences. The other way to guarantee someone is not ever getting out of prison if they are sentenced for life without the possibility of parole. Again, not handed out except for the worst offenders. Also, politicians can decide to release a bunch of prisoners due to overcrowding. The multiple life sentenced person will not be eligible for that kind of release, while someone who has life could be. The politicians can screw the public over terribly that way.

22 years for her and 20 for him, these are a minimum sentence, they wont be getting out at the end of the minimum term. When a ``sadistic`` person has been recognised in a crime, It is difficult for them to obtain release. Its the same as the IPP charge. Hundreds of gang members that have been given IPP orders for knife crimes, they serve terms much longer than the judge set. Stories of IPP prisoners doing 15, 20 years over their set term due to their mental state and attitude.
