In the UK a postman's route usually consists of 500 to 600 addresses in urban areas. With the volume of parcels that require signatures or don't fit through letterboxes, increasing all the time, the added time that these parcels add to your time is unsustainable. Therefore we're told to deliver tracked parcels as a priority and hold back letters if we run out of time.

We used to write "local" on mail we posted for delivery from the same office that collected it. As it is, mail goes 20 miles to a central processing centre only to be returned back the next day. Local sorting would streamline delivery.

Moving postal places does delay delivery. What use to take us three days to have mail delivered in our area now takes us about a week or two to get . Here in Ohio, if we mail across town, it now has to go to Detroit, get processed (which maybe a couple days) then come back to where it left from to be delivered.

Carrier here. We have started ( barely) to use eArrow keys. You need to put the key in and use your scanner to actually open the box. The scanner needs to be logged in every day. You get robbed of key and scanner . Only a few hours they can open it.

What slows delivery is adding more stops on a route and not adding more routes to lessen the overburdened routes. One office I'd go to as a CCA had 2 routes both over 1100 stops and an aux route. How on earth is that even ok? I had no shame in not completing the route. I'm quick to catch on to where I'm going after doing a route twice but I refuse to skip my breaks, work in an unsafe manner, and be bullied and pressured by management to live up to unrealistic expectations

@1gBDP yeah but they keep asking for more and more money raise the stamp prices in that people are real amount of the cost to deliver first class mail. Postmaster must be coming to the congress for money for something that means the taxpayer. The senators are going to give him no money out of their pocket it's coming from we the people
