As someone who always rely on lineart, this made me realize that I would learn a lot if I studied rendering like you, very inspiring !

I'm glad my video resonated with you. It's interesting how relying solely on line art can limit our exploration of other techniques. I had a similar realization in my own artistic journey, and it opened up new possibilities for me. Now, I'm eager to dedicate more time to practicing rendering and expanding my skills in that area. There's always room for growth and improvement, and I encourage you to explore different techniques as well. Thank you for sharing your experience and for your kind words! 🙌

Maybe another tip to grow even more as an artist: when studying other peoples art, don‘t use the eyedropper tool. try to choose the colors by looking at it, it will be harder and you won‘t exactly match the colors every time, but you will get an understanding of why your own paintings may look wonky, and why your lack of color theory knowledge holds you back. + you will develop an own style of color compositioning, that stands out :)
@OneColdtruth
@OneColdtruth Ай бұрын
Its better to color pick your own piece for better workflow and I couldn't agree more the eye dropper tool is helpful but if over relied on can really mess up your understanding of color theory. 😅 I think the lighting mentor on KZbin taught me that.

Every new artists needs to wacth this video. Beginners never starts with non lining art like this. And the volumetric shapes, colors and lighting are so importants. I remembered doing this art study for leather, fabric and hair too. Even skins for multiple parts of the body as the hands or the ears in differents day time. Great work Tanalieku, great work. Maybe I'll restart some 2D art soon :)

as a traditional artist something that stands out to me about how digital artists approach renderint is that y'all often don't do underpaintings. i think you might find the forms, colors, and especially value scale come together much better if you do a monochrome study under the full rendering.
@123abcdefg83
@123abcdefg83 Жыл бұрын
There are many different ways to paint traditionally; alla prima oil painting for example does not usually start with a monochrome underpainting. Gouache and watercolor don't either. I think everyone's brain works differently and starting with monochrome might hinder more than help some.

This was amazing, i stopped halfway through to get my tablet and try to paint one of your portraits :) I usually sketch on paper so I'm used to having lineart as the "bones" to everything, but that way of drawing never translated well to digital art for me. Seeing your approach without any lineart inspired me to try that, and it was so much fun! Thank you so much, i haven't felt this exited about doing art in a while :D

In 70s and 80s did studies as a kid from Saturday morning cartoons, TV guide, comics, cartoons, Nagel, even from my friends's art. I learned to do side profiles from Alfred Hitchcock's logo. It would display on the screen and he would walk into it. My mom had a lot of his books with the logo- a series of broken lines to form his face, drew it once as it was, then drew everyone like it connecting the lines until I developed my "eye", now as an adult, if I see an aspect in another art, like another way to portray light, or render skin I just try to incorporate it into my next image.
