In this special interview, I sit down with my dad, the man who taught me everything I know about construction. From humble beginnings as an OFW in Canada to becoming a successful contractor, his journey is nothing short of inspiring. He started with limited equipment, including a typewriter given by my lola, and through hard work and dedication, built a legacy in the construction industry.
This conversation is not just about his professional achievements but also about the life lessons he imparted to me-lessons that have shaped who I am today. My dad is my hero, my mentor, and the driving force behind my passion for construction. Join me as we dive into his incredible story and explore the values that guided him from roof repairs to running a thriving business.

Your dad is very humble. 20% being a parent and 80% friend relationship in parenting advice from your dad made me think if how does my kids sees me. Be satisfied for what you have and lakaw lang ka until maapsan nimo simple statement but very meaningful . Made me very emotional after watching this vlog with my 2 kids because their dad just died last year and my son told me that his dad is his best friend too but he will not experience the things that you've experienced with your dad. More blessings, Young family.

Same!!! Im so happy ive watched this, totally changed me. Wala pa koy mga anak maam, but as a panganay im tend to be super strict with my siblings thinking they are all my responsibility, but then when I heard this, yes partly they are still my responsibility but the friendship between them is the priority!!! AMAZING VLOG, im crying while typing this. Just letting you know, you’re doing great, your late husband, and your children are most probably proud of you.

People often ask or point out that I watch vlogs, saying things like, "You're a big fan of Kryz Uy, no?" or "of Slater Young?" I've been quietly watching, listening to their podcasts, and supporting this couple. Like I mentioned in Kryz's latest vlog, watching their vlogs is really satisfying and calming. I don't know why, but I always feel motivated to be better and dream big after watching them. Even though Slater uploads vlogs rarely and Kryz only once a week, it's always worth the wait. This almost 44-minute vlog or podcast felt like just 10 minutes to me. Again, I feel motivated, and it also raises my standards for building a family in the future. I want to have a family like theirs.

Great video. It's so enthralling to listen to basic honest wisdom, not just construction and business wisdom, but mostly life wisdom. I appreciate how Slater really presented that his father didn’t grow up poor, but comfortable. It is harder when you grow or start poor, it is very very different. Studying medicine or engineering back in the day still is something only a financially sufficient family can do and most of these people have Chinese blood.

I enjoy watching this episode of the father and son interview. It's important to hear the advice of older generations, as they play a significant role in shaping children's upbringing and future. Children have their own perspectives and aspirations, but listening to the wisdom of their elders can be valuable. As children grow up and eventually become parents themselves, they will continue the legacy of passing on valuable advice and knowledge.

Your dad’s humility shines through. He always gives credit to the right people and when it's due, including his past experiences and the people who influenced him to be a better father and manage the business. ✨
