Sorry they left Allesia partially out though... 👍👍 !!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️

During the pandemic Alessia Cara was invited to submit a remake for the Metallica Blacklist album celebrating 30 years since the Black album. Alessia is not a rocker and was a bit unsure about it but her international management team is shared with The Warning. One of them made the suggestion of a collaboration and Alessia cleared the idea with Metallica. The instructions she and The Warning were given was don't change the lyrics but otherwise turn the song inside out, upside down, whatever they wanted to do. By the time everything was cleared and The Warning got the official invitation they had 10 days for writing, recording and mastering. Just to add a little more difficulty Alessia had to work from Canada while The Warning worked from Mexico. This basic version was the result. Proceeds from the Blacklist went to charity. By luck, this is track 1 of the Blacklist album set.
@gmantw5 күн бұрын
I agree with most of what you said except being the first track out of luck. They went by Alphabetical order, and Alessia was why it landed there. Metallica's management was in touch with The Warning as well, but Alessia's camp did initiate the ask.

This was a special and unique performance with the addition of strings. Metallica asked The Warning to cover "Enter Sandman" in collaboration with Canadian pop singer Alessia Cara for The Metallica Blacklist album, released to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Black Album in 2021. According to Lars Ulrich, they told all the bands involved, "Pick a song. Do what you want with it. If you want to play it backwards or turn it on its head, we respect and appreciate it." The Warning and Alessia composed and recorded their version in just 10 days over Zoom. The official music video features Alessia as a projection since she couldn’t travel to Mexico due to COVID, but her "oh-oh-oh-oh" vocals are still included on the backing track during live performances. They performed the song live with Alessia once as a special one-time event. Another great performance of their version, without the string section, was at Teatro Metropolitan in 2022.

The Warning did EXACTLY as they were asked to do by Metallica when they and Allesia Cara ( who was initially invited to do the song ) were given the remit of taking a Metallica song and putting their own spin on it for the 2021 " Blacklist " album . This version evolved with the strings etc from that original version where they literally took the song to pieces and put it back together in a completely different way while still retaining the essence of the original

Next up: 2023 MTV VMAS "Evolve". You want to see hard rock like you haven't heard since the 90s, check thus out. Their reimagined Enter Sandman for the charity Blacklist album gives me goosebumps and shows their musical writing talents (they followed Metallica's ask "don't change the lyrics, do whatever you want to the music" perfectly (whereas most of the 50+ artists, some well known) just did the same song in their lane. Now, you'll want to check out their original songs. They have 4 albums out, so much to choose from. Live is their superpower. After Evolve, try Disciple (Pepsi Center), then Sharks (Lyric video off their newest album - Keep Me Fed - no official live video out yet). They have ~60 original songs out, and there's no bad ones. These girls take the time to ensure each song has what it needs. Thanks for the great reaction!

Big thumbs up - thanks for the reaction - always amazing to watch someone who has never heard The Warning's version react to it! Yea, it's a pretty brilliant arrangement of a classic. They only used the string section in this live performance as it was for their 10th anniversary … and they're still young! The bass player was only 18, the drummer 21 and the main singer/guitar was 23 in this show. This arrangement y The Warning is the first track on Metallica's "Black List" album - a tribute to 30 years since the release of the Black album. 🤘 TWA⚡UK

The top 5 albums from Therion IMHO (in chronological order) and outstanding songs to me from each album (although I highly recommend listening to the whole records): - Vovin: The Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah (very popular), Birth of Venus Illegitima (very popular), Raven of Dispersion - Deggial: Eternal Return, The Invincible, Via Nocturna Part I and II (popular) - Secret of the Runes: Ginnungagap, Midgard, Asgard - Lemuria: Typhon, Lemuria (very popular), An Arrow from the Sun (popular) - Sirius B: The Blood of Kingu, Son of the Sun (popular), Call of Dagon Sorry for giving you many options (especially for Therion), but it's hard to choose just one song from both bands, thanks for your attention I'm looking forward to your reactions to TW and hopefully to Therion aswell.

reimagined *Enter Sandman* : DPA/TW and Alessia Cara certainly understood the assignment! Alessia Cara is a Grammy winning Canadian Pop and R&B singer... they had 10 days to rip this rendition of *Enter Sandman* from the ether and make it a darker, more eerie, and a more haunting lullaby than the original metal version... they made the deadline and they made an OMV for it to boot! this reimagining and performance were done because they, and many other artists from numerous genres, were invited by Metallica to take one of the songs from the original _"Black"_ album, keep the lyrics and change it up how ever you like... play it backwards, upside down, whatever... this was all for the 30th anniversary of the _"Black"_ album... all the submissions from 50someodd artists were put on the 2021 _"The Metallica Blacklist"_ album... the proceeds from the album sales are split 50/50 with half going to Metallica's "All Within My Hands Foundation" and the other half being donated to a charity of the participating artists' choice. in the OMV, Dany (guitar) and Alessia share the lead vocals until they are in the three doorways when Dany takes over and Alessia does more of the background oooohs and aaaahs... the version they play in concert has Dany doing the vocals with a backing track of Alessia's ohhhs and ahhhs... of course Ale (bass) and Pau (drums) join in with their angelic harmonies in both... this is a fantastic reimagining of the iconic original... the performances at their "Big 3" 10th Anniversary shows, in Oct 2023, are astounding with the 10-piece string section from Monterrey, DPA/TW's home town... the string section came out to join Pau on her solo keyboard performance of *Black Holes* and stayed for *Enter Sandman* ... i like their lead-in ES while the stage was being cleared of the piano and other equipment from Pau's solo performance... this 60+ year old rocker loves both versions of Enter Sandman but this one by TW and Alessia gets more airtime these days 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA

During the COVID pandemic Metallica celebrated the 30th Anniversary of their Black Album with a charity project, The Metallica Blacklist. More than 50 artists from various music genres were invited to take any song from The Black Album and re-do it. The Warning got in late, as they were not on the original invite list. Canadian singer Alessia Cara was invited, but rather late in the process with under two weeks to the deadline. Alessia and The Warning had a management group in common, and somebody suggested they collaborate. So, in the space of ten days, they completely rearranged Enter Sandman, recorded and mixed the result, and submitted it. The version performed here is a variant of that arrangement, with Dany singing lead instead of sharing the role, and with an added string section. The music video with Alessia and The Warning is also very good and you can hear the original Blacklist version as it was written.

Following Metallica’s instructions, The Warning and Alessia Cara made the song Enter Sandman their own. The ‘fourth’ and most epic version of their remake of Enter Sandman. Dany now sings Alessia’s vocal parts but have kept a prerecorded background track of Alessia’s haunting wail. Dany is playing the Gibson guitar gifted to her by Lzzy Hale of Halestorm. With the strings section of an orchestra, The Warning remember their classical roots.

3 Sisters; master musicians, amazing composers, remarkable vocalists (Dany-Alto, Pau-Mezzo, Ale-Contralto), reimagined Enter Sandman as a haunting lullaby. Brilliant rearrangement; perfect addition of a string section, 3-part harmonies sublime. Is The Warning's reimagining/ rearrangement Heavy Metal or Rock? It's open for interpretation; I say Hard Rock. The Warning defies easy classification. They create brilliant Rock like "D2D", "Survive", "HYCAD", "Disciple", amazing Punk-Rock/ Emo like "Narcisista", and incredible ballads like "Black Holes", "When I'm Alone", and "Revenant". The Warning is primarily Alternative Rock/ Hard Rock. They tackle profound themes and emotions in masterpieces like MARTIRIO, but MARTIRIO is definitely not Metal.

I have to admit, I am not a Metallica fan, and I was sick of this song, until this version came along. A lullaby where Dany very sweetly puts you to bed, then rouses the troops, shares a little prayer, the angel chorus comes to sing you to sleep, then Boom, the hammer drops. I think of this very much as the female version of the Sandman tale told as a dark lullaby. So good. Delicate, powerful, soothing, strong, gentle, fierce-all at the same time. I love this one.

Enter sandman is one of the few "cover" songs that they have played in recent years and it's pretty much not even a cover, in their version. This year they don't have E.S. in their show set lists, concentrating, instead, on songs from their newest album (their 4th). They have over 60 original songs, of their own and, pretty much all of them are mind blowing. I'd check out all of the songs from the "Pepsi Center CDMX" concert, as they're all top tier recordings. This is THEIR headliner show, celebrating the band's 10-year anniversary. For a quick fix, a good one to try would be "Disciple": kzbin.info/www/bejne/kF7FhmRtnbGZqbM Also I'd highly suggest their song "Evolve" from the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. By the way, "those little girls" were nominated for a Latin Grammy Award and also MTV Video Music Awards in both the U.S. and the U.K.

You want suggestions for what to listen to from The Warning? ... ... ... Well you have four albums, and an EPs worth of material to choose from. Oh, and Narcisitsa , which was a solo release. Since it isn't on any album I am going to suggest you start with Narcisista a live performance from Foro Didi, where they premiered it. It was written as a response to critics that they didn't sing in Spanish, which is their native language. From their first album I would suggest the official music video for the title track which is XXI Century Blood. Also the song Survive. While I love the version I first saw from their 2017 Tedx talk, most people will suggest the most recent live performance from the Pepsi Center concert. The Tedx talks are something that you should check out at some point. From their second album Queen of the Murder Scene, I am going to suggest you check out Dust to Dust/Dull Knives from the Pepsi Center. Two songs from the album joined with a new transition. From their third album Error, I will suggest Evolve, from the 2023 VMAs, and Choke from the Pepsi Center. From their fourth album, Keep Me Fed, I will suggest More, from the 2023 VMAs, and Hell You Call A Dream, from the Pepsi Center. From their EP Escape the Mind, which was basically an exercise in songwriting, I am going to suggest the song Free Falling. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZ3MoZmKd8Z_f6s Now, yes this came out nine years ago. Yes this was written by two teenagers and a preteen, Yes this is from school concert, But also, YES this is worth watching. Seriously would love for them to do an updated version of this now that they have grown up with their current skill levels and voices. The two Tedx talks that they did are worth watching to learn a bit about them, and hear the songs they sing. If you are not tired of Enter Sandman yet, you should also check out the Official Music Video for Enter Sandman with Alessia Cara that was done for The Blacklist Album. Some fans don't like it because it isn't hard enough, and Alessia Carra sings on it, but it is beautiful, and haunting, and the video is amazing, and it was their first collaboration, and the killed it, under tight time constraints. Welcome to The Warning blackhole. Once it has drawn you in, you won't want to escape. ... ... ... Oh they have a song called Black Holes, which was on their first album, which is also worth checking out.

Of course, The Warning's original music is what you should be playing. *Keep Me Fed* is an outrageously good album. These ladies have serious musical chops, now! For live performance, nothing beats the 23 songs from this Pepsi Center concert. Their official music videos are also way cool.

Literally, only EIGHT SECONDS later (Yeah, I timed it to prove my point.), your question was answered! Imagine that! Sheesh!

You might like to check out BandMaid. They recently did a collab with The Warning and it was great but I'd suggest one of their own songs first. They don't have a bad song, but a good starter would be the live performances of Domination, Freedom, or Take Me Higher.

You have now reacted to two of their covers *ugh* their own music is way better. When they were in their teens they wrote a rock opera called Queen of The Murder Scene financed with Kickstarter and Patreon, it was nominated for indie rock album of the year. Of their own music I would suggest The End (Stars Always Seems To Fade) Live at Lunario. Or Choke the official video for and understanding of their outstanding music and lyric writing abilities

Good reaction... but I want to warn you that The Warning is not a metal band per se, although they have proven to be versatile going through several subgenres in their songs they are not strictly a metal band, their tendency is more towards Hard Rock. However, they are extremely talented and we can assure you that you will hear very good music with the energy that these Mexicans, who are the pride of Latin American rock, transmit.

They're not a metal band...more like hard rock

I prefer the Teatro Metropolitan version where the strings aren't competing with Alessia Cara's backing vocals. The strings make the song too busy.

100% agree...I'll take the Teatro performance all day long!

Not a big fan of the string intro. To me it seems incongruous.
