Yes you're right. Also, speaking from experience, they take jobs that americans want. I graduated college with a finance degree a couple months ago and the job market has been tight so I've been working instacart. I used to work it throughout college and made decent money. This past year the pay has been terrible and way more competitive. Most days I make less than minimum wage. I assumed it was just because of the economic downturn. One day I struck up a convo with an immigrant from Nicaragua who was working as a cashier. I mentioned that I'm doing instacart and he asked how it is and I said it hasn't been great lately. He told me that's because there are hundreds of Venezuelans working instacart in the city and the supply is so high that it exceeds the demand for shoppers. I started paying attention to other people doing instacart and realized i am the only white person doing it these days. Apparently the governor here made an order to let illegal immigrants get driver's licenses with minimal prerequisites. So my pay over the past year went from avg $20/hour down to $13/hour. the minimum wage here is $14/hour. They imported hundreds of thousands of immigrants. It's simple supply and demand. More supply = price goes down= I get paid less. And btw I got good grades in college, worked for the university, did extracurriculars, academic scholarship, dean's list; none of it matters. They aren't hiring anymore; at least not hiring white cis men like me. I sent out thousands of applications throughout college, never even got a single callback.

The thing is that it isn't the immigrants fault, they shouldn't blame the immigrants, they should blame the government. I'm not Canadian but American and over here EVERY white person blames immigrants when they should blame the government. The worst part is that they bitch about there being no jobs for them because of immigrants meanwhile I've worked with those people and they will quit a job within a few hours of being there because they're not being treated like royalty so they hire immigrants who will do the same job (which is essentially the work of 2-10 different people per shift) without complaining and will do it for cheaper. If the government would put a halt on these government employees lying constantly about "We're going to bring jobs back to America!" and then force them to actually BRING JOBS TO AMERICA then we wouldn't have much issues. Many places shut down because of Obama, then Trump came in and even more places closed down because of Trump after he promised he would help these innocent civilians. The truth is that the government is the one at fault, they're allowing these liars to make MILLIONS per month which should be going to funding jobs across the country. It's the same in Canada and anywhere else where $$ controls everything. If people would start to understand that it isn't the fault of immigrants, it's the fault of the government for not creating more jobs despite the fact that these government employees are making millions upon millions per month from the tax payers + they're making millions from the big corporations who want to ensure that the government doesn't create new jobs so that they can have a monopoly over the economy.
@anon696698 күн бұрын
Yeah exactly. Philip is brainwashed obviously. He doesn't give a fuck about the blue collar workers whose jobs are being taken from them. Even if you don't lose your job to an immigrant, you're going to have less promotions and less pay because there's more competition. It's basic economics. Doesn't mean on the wider planet there aren't far more than in that one Country. I am not sure how this is considered 'disadvantaged' when WE were the nice ones and invited them over in the first place? That math ain't mathin. We're told we're bad people for making a place everyone wanted to come to, but now we're saying, "maybe that's too many?" and getting called names for it. Suicidal empathy is to blame. We all are supportive people in Canada and want to help people less fortunate. Historically Canada has had a more reasonable level of immigration and immigrants came to Canada to become Canadians. What we're seeing now is a major lack of integration and a conceited level of expectations for the Canadian tax payers to support people who lack any interest with integration. When people are saying they dont recognize their own cities and towns its because its true. The demography of Canada has changed so much in the last 20 years. Now on top of all that Canadas infrastructure isnt even close to be able to accommodate the rapid expansion of foreigners flooding into the country. Its the root cause of our struggling medical system, the lacking education system, the over burdened road ways, the lack of available jobs, and the sky rocketing rent situations. These root causes are enough to even challenge the most progressive personality. At the end of the day the ones benefitting the most from our current level of immigration are the multi national corporations dominating out city scapes with a large pool of cheap labour. Everyday Canadians are left with all the problems. Its no wonder the opinion has changed so rapidly in regards to immigration in Canada, from even the most progressive types.

Also, my parents were first gen immigrants. My dad was a Chemical Engineer specialising in metallurgy and came to Australia during the mining boom in the 90s. He had to work rly hard to gain citizenship. My mother is also a Nurse. They both had to work rly hard and now you can come here with nothing and obtain citizenship through a backdoor. I immigrated to Toronto about 2 years ago. In those 2 years, the immigrant debate has escalated. It’s sad, because on my street I knew many Indian immigrants crowded in basements, evading fire inspectors. They’re all struggling, and they’re all realising Canada isn’t what it was advertised as. Simultaneously, I feel sympathy for the Torontonians who have become minorities in their own city. It’s disturbing. The city feels like it’s going to explode at any moment, and that’s why I didn’t stay.

Canada has never been a rich nation. The majority of citizens have been living pay to pay for generations. All one has to do is look at government stats if they doubt it. I think a lot of foreigners come here thinking that we're like the USA, but with lots of so-called free services. Nah, it's all a lie. We were actually way more prosperous when our population was 20 million. Now that we have doubled in population it's all falling apart. I'm 47 and I was being told back when I was in college that we were in a negative birthrate. It never changed either since then. That's over 27 years ago! How did our population double since then to now? Canada is not Toronto and Vancouver. If a person wanting to immigrate to Canada, and are thinking of those two places, it's like a Canadian talking about moving to NYC or Bel Air California. You gotta be rich to have a good quality of life in those areas. There are Canadians who dream about moving to those cities btw. Part of the Canadian system was that a few are going to be rich while the majority were middle class and lesser in poverty. We had a balanced socialized systems that worked, a good economy, etc. Our dollar was worth more than the USD when I was toddler FYI. Trust me, people who actually make real money do not stay in Canada. They leave, along with their money and investments. No one should come here thinking that if they work hard they will make it. We're not a country based on competence. It's not the USA where an education can get you somewhere. Just look at who we have as a Prime Minister. There are many bachelor degree holders stocking shelves at Walmart and Costco, and they're not all immigrants. Canada, over educated and underpaid.
@TheHollowBlade7 күн бұрын
No, Canada USED to be what was advertised to them. It really was. But they all decided they all wanted to come over all at once and our government saw it as a chance to please the corporate gods that line their pockets for cheap labour. So now we are in a situation were instead of drip feeding migrant entrance they open the tap and now we are flooded and drowning where no one can survive. Its great that we have been able to help so many, but we should only be helping within our means, because we are now in a spot where we have made life worse for those already here and those coming here with the hopes of making a better life are likely only going to have an almost as bad if not maybe worse life than they had back home. We have to stop bringing people in and working on getting the country better for the people already here and having the proper prepared infrastructure for future immigrants so they can come here and succeed, all while our lower classes can remain successful and living a decent life vs living pay cheque to pay cheque worried about how they are going to afford life next month.

@KosmStudios8 күн бұрын
Why is this happening everywhere?! During 2020, there was a massive transfer of wealth that significantly benefited the elite ruling class. Much of this wealth came at the expense of the working middle class, which has since been greatly diminished. Now, it appears that Western countries are being flooded with an influx of low-cost labor from developing nations. This shift creates a system where the middle class is less likely to voice concerns about their declining quality of life, as they are encouraged to compare their situation to that of the new, even lower-paid labor force. This dynamic shifts public frustration away from elite-driven policies and redirects it toward the newly arrived workers, rather than those responsible for shaping the economic landscape.

Sounds like immigration is going to be the big topic of the 2020s in a lot of countries. I'm not sure what Western politicians were thinking when they changed the immigration policy to let in massive numbers of immigrants. It is especially true in countries with small native populations like Canada, New Zealand, and Sweden. That is just too much of a shock to system to let in that many culturally different people in such a short period of time. It isn't fair to the immigrants who thought they were leaving their native country for a better life or for the native-born citizens who have their way of life disrupted trying to accommodate all these people in their hometowns. Immigration works best at a controlled pace and not some mass free for all.

@@PhilipSoloTV Unfortunately, that is true in a lot cases. Depressing wages while increasing housing costs is not a great plan for the long-term stability of a country though. Brampton is not Toronto, also I grew up in downtown Toronto my whole life and Brampton has always been mostly Indian. Sorry but just cause you got an education here doesn't mean you magically get to stay here that's why it is a "foreign exchange student program", not an immigration program. 60g is not a down payment for anything anymore, I bought my house in 2021 in a city 1.5 hrs north of Toronto and my house that 10 years ago cost 200g was 500g when I purchased it. Immigrants are taking the brunt of the blame because it is a population/ housing issue and if you keep immigrating the amount of people they have been bringing in it's not going to have any time to level out, prices are not going to drop, when people can't find a place to live because there is not enough housing for said population, its a problem.

Canada's problem is that for the last 30 years there has been zero growth in anything, no new trains, highways, nothing. Then you keep bringing people in and when it goes wrong you blame them? The immigration issue is a side effect of a lot of other things, we couldve had it all but Canada shot itself in the foot and outsourced all manufacturing jobs and the government never gave any incentives for economic growth in other sectors. Taxes in Canada are very unattractive for investors and companies to set up shop here. Canada is ran by a few companies that run everything, prices are artificially inflated for food and housing and it has always been that way

There's a significant amount of LMIA misuse. That is correct. But to say that it's just one guy who wants to counter protest is wrong. Many Canadians in the local area feel the same way as the counter protestor, but are too afraid to go out and make their voices heard. In the past, if a Canadian spoke out against immigration in any case they'd be labeled as a racist. That sentiment is still very prominent in Canada, especially with the track record that the government and private corporations has on suppression and censorship online. Anyone who speaks out is hit with a wave of backlash, which includes sometimes careers being threatened. On top of that, many protestors would be scared to protest in front of so many men. Given Brampton and the Indian diasporas history just this year of violence on religious institutions and members of other creeds, what is to stop them from attacking people who have different fundamental opinions than them? I know I wouldn't.
@aydon12766 күн бұрын
Another point to mention is that if you've spent tens of thousands of dollars in a country in order to achieve permanent residence, and they government is doing nothing to help you...why don't you leave? Look for somewhere else? Why invest so much money for an LMIA for absolutely nothing to change? My last work environment had two Philipino people that had been in Canada for several years. I asked what LMIA had done for their PR and I was told that it hardly helped at all and they'd have to stay in the country several more years for naturalization. On top of that, why are so many international students coming to Canadian schools and applying for financial aid or going to food banks? Canada in certain cities has had to limit International students from food banks, and rightly so. When someone from another country applies to be a student here, they're required to have (if I remember correctly) several tens of thousands of dollars on hand to support themselves. This clearly isn't the case. I've seen many instances of international students lying and using family members bank accounts (among other shady methods) to fool the Canadian government into letting them in, thinking they're steady enough to subside here. It isn't right.

When immigration goes as far as bringing immigrants to reservations, especially way up north, where the majority of the actual Canadian population won't go - there's an issue.

We can feel for them, but we also have to feel for ourselves. This has to stop before it gets out of control. Its destroying all of canada from all angles. We are losing our culture slowly over time. Our economy and housing market is becoming impossible to live along side. The people coming in will have zero chance of making it, much like the young people born here. There comes a point where we "act" like we are helping just to virtue signal, while ignoring the fact that the entire country is slowly falling apart and soon everyone in Canada will be the ones needing help but who is going to help us then? Not india since they cant help themselves. Not the US since they are dealing with the same problems we are. Im so glad people are calling it out finally, the fear of being called a racist over a very VERY real problem is gone and now we can finally start to talk about helping ourselves and getting back into a position where we can start helping other countries again.

We have a family in my small little apartment building of 12 units. We have a WhatsApp group chat and the wife is always asking us about jobs if anyone knows of anywhere hiring. She says that they have been in Canada for five years and she hasn’t been able to find a job since she’s gotten here. They had to move their family of four into a one bedroom apartment. 😳 That’s wild to immigrate to a country and for five years and you can’t find a job. The vacancy rate is 0.0001% vacancy so they couldn’t even find an apartment big enough to fit their family, yet Canada is still bringing people into the country yet there aren’t jobs or houses to sustain the families. it’s really sad.
