I Investigated the Cancer District of Uttar Pradesh | Bharat Ek Khoj Ep17 | Unfiltered by Samdish

Water is one of the basic factors of human survival but in the Baghpat District of western Uttar Pradesh, water has become the reason for death. People in this region have been living under a web of diseases caused by the contaminated groundwater they consume daily.
In an attempt to understand the severity of the situation, we went to one of the gravely affected villages of Baghpat called Gangnauli. Whether a person is 10 years old or 50, illnesses like Stomach infections, Bone deformities and Cancer have affected every second person in this village. From requesting clean drinking water to fighting a court case for it...the villagers have tried it all.

@@Harley_harsh the roads you use the railways you travel in, the ac u use to staff of heat, the bike or car u take to work, the laptop or mobile you use and many more are done by harming our mother nature, extracting lithium, burning fossil fuels, giving chloro fluoro carbon to ozone, are the costs of such facilities we use for our convenience, even the electricity mostly comes from coal power plants, though we are trying to transition from it, but this western countries are preaching that we are the only culprits of it, though they started it, they themselves used the environment to fuel their industrial revolution to become developed, and they are now sanctioning us if we use non renewable sources, and they are not giving us funds for renewable sources albeit they promised for it in Paris agreement(100billion) . That's the hypocrisy of these western countries, in these cutthroat competition, geopolitics and wars we ought not to be behind, and in order to get rapidly developed we need infrastructure, which leads to investments which in turns lead to development, I don't wanna delve into politics but in my state a proper road could not be made due to local politics as they were using tools of environment protection to staff off development, they were saying that these 'poor tribal people's don't need roads they are happy with mud slinged paveways as they are not hurting ' nature' but it's the opposite, they want a road for communication with the nearest town, they wanted their children to send to school comfortably without mud slinging in their legs. But that was past now in my village their is proper road although there is corruption where some parts of road are poorly made but atleast better than earlier, there are three buses now to ferry people to and fro to town. That is what I call development. Are tribal people not happy now, sure there are are cost to environment they also know it they pray trees too, but they now what is better for their future.

In Singapore, all the garbage is sent to a trash burning plant and the heat generated from that burning is used to power the city of Singapore. The dry ash collected from left over is used in construction projects like making pavements for roads etc. They do it the best way. We can learn a lot from our fellow asian countries.

Thanks Samdish for raising this point. Nobody talks about basic things. Food, hygiene, air quality yeah kisi koh nahi dekhna. My husband has been suffering from cancer for the last 8 years. There is no support from the government. Noone talks about the insurance need of cancer patients.

Sorry for your situation. I pray that your husband fights off cancer soon. 8 years is a long fight in itself, he will get well soon. I agree the burning issues that india faces today is food, air and water quality. Even the waste disposal and the dirty streets and public spaces is a big issue. We deserve a clean, livable environment I have heard NO politician even raise these issues today, these issues are at our doorstep and are coming to bite us in less than a decade.
