We got no pay outs, yes, we came here legally, there was so much paperwork and money we had to pay out. Also, We had to prove we had enough money to support ourselves. And had to prove we were up to date with our vaccines. Kids wouldn't get into school until we proved and showed the vaccinations they had. I lived in Senegal, and many have a very relaxed approach to life! I would go to the supermarket and sat nearby were women who sat on buckets, the buckets were used to store some of the things passersby would give them. That was their 'hustle'. There was a massive begging culture there like HUGE. I am not sure about now. It was very different from other West African nations I have visited.

I'm a 65 year old Veteran, US Army 82nd Airborne, 1977 - 1980 and I'm living in my car after losing my home soon after the Covid drama. I called Veterans for the homeless and they told me of some local "shelters" I can sleep in. I'd rather sleep in my car then in bug infested bum rooms. I still work, I just don't make enough to afford an apartment here in Tampa as rents are insane now. This is so unfair, so many of us Veterans could rebuild our lives on 3,000 per month, but we're ignored. How is this fair? Yep. My husband and I just retired. We now get Medicare and Social Security. Worked all our lives paid all our taxes, did everything by the books, good law abiding citizens, born and raised in US by parents who did the same. My dad even served in the military until he was old enough to retire. Now we are concerned that very soon Social Security and Medicare will be go. We are not wealthy people, but debt free. As a Californian I’m pissed off, I feel bad for New Yorkers. I came to America 7 years ago I paid over 10k for asylum took me 2 years to get my work permit after 5 years finally got my green card. I worked my ass off to struggling paying rents and school working minimum wage job and paid taxes every single year even I don’t get enough money in my pocket. This is literally 3 blocks from my house. Five years ago on Ave A on a Thursday night - the heart of the East Village - it would be hopping. I had to walk home from 14th street (where the mail guy said his girlfriend was attacked) last week Thursday and there was NOTHING open. Three bars in 14 blocks were open but very quiet - and a bouncer at the door. NO ONE is going out anymore since the pandemic. People are not on the subway after 10pm. I've lived here 35 years and I've never seen anything like it. How will those bars stay open with the obscenely high rents if they are closing at 12 - 1 am?? I'm livid about this situation. I did not vote for Hochul or Adams even though I've been a Dem all my life. Our building has been robbed of packages - I got caught up in one of those robberies. I have been over to the Police Station and they basically were crying to me (and they were very nice) that they have very few officers and don't know what they're going to do. ???? Charity begins AT HOME. You need to help your OWN first. My husband is an immigrant. We spent 9 years and probably 20K bringing him here. He works hard. We had to write an affidavit of support so that they knew he wouldn't use any services here. Thank you for interviewing people in my neighborhood. This was incredible to see. You don't dare say anything negative or you'll be called a bigot so I have to see these interviews on your channel. Great great job!

I work for a small hotel that only housed* 40 families and the government was paying us about 300k just in rooms per month. Plus a full staff of National guards, 3 meals a day, nurses came daily, buses for kids schools, transportation to all appointments, food stamps and more! THE BIRD FEEDER ANALOGY I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it with birdseed. What a beauty of a bird feeder it was, as I filled it lovingly with seed. Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food. But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue. Then came the poop! It was everywhere, on the patio tile, the chairs, the table…everywhere! Then some of the birds turned mean. They would dive-bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. The other birds were boisterous and loud. They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food. After a while, I could not even sit on my own back porch anymore. So I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio. Soon, the backyard was back to like it used to be…quiet, serene, and no one demanding their right to a free meal. Now let us see here… Our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, and free education and allows anyone born here to be an automatic citizen. Then the illegals came by the tens and hundreds of thousands, millions. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; apartments are housing 5 families; you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor; your child’s 2nd grade class is behind other schools because half the class doesn’t speak English. Illegals squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties. When asked why they breed like cockroaches, the reply is that it is a cultural thing. It's long overdue for the US government to take down the bird feeder. Otherwise, we will continue cleaning up the poop!

It must be so frustrating to work at these hotels knowing those people being interviewed aren’t working. Imagine cleaning up their linens, giving them food, providing services to them while you know your paycheck goes to them so they can sit on their assess all day and do nothing. That is unbelievably gross

The bigger issue is they come and cannot find work because they do not have work authorization. This whole situation is really screwed up. Not one of these people can work here legally. No SSN, no work authorization, no visa, no nothing.
