This was great and an eye opener. Thank you. But for me, if the ownership arrangement is lease based, then I think it's a waste of money trying to build any structure on the land. I rather just rent than spend so much to build on a leased land. That just makes no (financial) sense to me. But again, that's just me. Either way, kudos for the great work.

Its about time state of Lagos connect all those island by building roads, bridges, water pipes, sewage channels, those island can be Miami of Africa with proper planning and creative investments, just image skyscrapers by coastline of those island
@molakunКүн бұрын
Actually, I think it would be better if it is left as a secluded island where you can escape the hustle and bustle of Lagos. Lagos already has the so called “Miami of Africa” which are the likes of Victoria island, banana island, Lagos island and the likes that already have skyscrapers by the coastline. There are also secluded islands in the US that are only accessible by boat or air and have no bridges connecting them to the mainland for the sake of exclusivity, and are mainly residential quiet places without skyscrapers where people go specifically to escape city life. Examples are Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Island in the US and I think this can be equivalent to those ones.

I just want to correct an impression here. The State government own the land AND if it is by the Ocean, then the federal government own it to some extent depending on how close it is to the ocean. So, in short, the government owned the land IN TRUST. That is why government can take over any land and pay COMPENSATION. Govt don't buy land but pay compensation to the family or owner whenever they need it for development.

David Hundeyin once referred to Nigerian elites as "toilet elites". This video is a very apt confirmation of that label. What exactly is special about that yeye place called Ilashe island other than the prohibitive price imposed on others? Not a single infrastructure, place is a proper village that has access to the ocean where some toilet elites decide to impose very high prices as a means of excluding everyday people so as to reinforce their status and fragile ego. If that place was in Europe and they tell you it is for the elites, nobody will have to do a video to convince you, seeing it alone will make it very clear, and of course, normal every day people irrespective of their socioeconomic status will still have open access to it. You guys in Nigeria are just sick in the head, the problem is that nobody tells you this sad fact.

An interesting location on the soil of NGR, do doubt. But to call it a paradise retreat is taking things too far. And where is the "lush greenery"? As a well-travelled person who has been international beach resorts all the world, I can empathically say this is just verbose larger than normal buildings with terrible road access. The set up is more of a desert and deserted island rather than a paradise exclusive island. I am sorry, Ilashe is not "the no. 1 Beash (beach) in the world", as one of the men claims. The reality is very far from it. I bet too that most of the owners can't even swim in the sea on their door step!
