@JeromeRufin your are on a public forum where your audience fans or doubters are observing your swing. Everyone wants to see a success story so I think we're all rooting for you to do well. But imagine BJJ fighter who claims they are so called black belt actually awarded at some school who can't beat a blue belt at another school. It's kinda embarrassing. Play in a real comp and have someone else who is a lower handicap score you then scoring yourself that will prove to the doubters and you won't need those secondary accounts preempting the doubters.
@flextech-z6w8 сағат бұрын
High single handicap is like claiming purple belt or very experienced blue. Or in basketball terms something maybe like a high D3 or starting D2 player or a bench warmer D1. Imagine claiming in public hey all in 620 days after being coached by LeBron James coach I'm as a good a starting D2 player. It would be natural for all the ballers ask is it true is this the chosen one or false prophet gets?

@flextech-z6w exactly, if you're gonna lie, do it to an extent lol, this is almost as bad as Ben baller claiming he didn't 3 putt in over 100 rounds. 2 weeks ago he posts "i FINALLY break 85 after 600-some days" and now he's magically a single digit 😂

Congrats J - super to see. Good to see the fun in the big drive, the fun part is one of the areas for your improvement IMO. Best way to go from here? Get a low-h/cap caddy for next round and do this one in say every 4 games for 3-4 caddied rounds. Today you spanked the 83 round and scored 84, no biggie except that choices/strategy and bias (we all are blind to our own biases) stopped this from being a great 76-77. For example club choice - not a single hole were you past the hole. This necessitates short shots from bad areas, a caddy would stop you pin hunting and getting centre green and back of green lines and lengths. There are other obvious savers that a caddy worth the tip would sort out, and get you thinking better, the skills are there man!

In the US how do you get a HCP of 9 without consistently breaking 85,80 ? I’m in Australia and I’m sure it’s the same in the US but our HCP is the average of your best 8 rounds out of your last 20. Could you post your recent round history (last 20) just for interest / education. You’re going great Jerome, keep up the good work. Play for your misses and the misses will get smaller. Play for the perfect shot each time and the misses get bigger.

Hey Jerome, I’m in Australia the GHIN app is no good to me, I’m not doubting you at all, in fact I’m proud of your efforts, just interested to see if the HCP calculations are different between the US and Australia. Keep up the great work, oh and give Dana a high for five his knowledge and willingness to let us hackers in on some inner trade secrets. ✋
@jackrutherford-116 сағат бұрын
HCP is best 8 rounds out of your most recent 20 but each course has a different difficulty rating as does each set of tees at a course. So if you shoot a -2 at a par 72 course and tee box with rating of 68.3, your handicap for that round is not +2 but -1.7 as the course from those tees is rated as 3.7 strokes easier than its par of 72. You then take your 8 best adjusted scores (adjusted for each course’s rating) out of last 20 scores and come up with your handicap out of there average. HCP system must also factor in the course slope as well and not just consider the rating. Anyhow, I'm now following Jerome on GHIN. congrats Jerome! But I wish you would've sank those two birdie putts, dang it!
@jackrutherford-116 сағат бұрын
Jerome's course is rated as a 71.2 and I believe it is a par 72 so the rating is saying that the course plays almost a stroke easier. So if you shot an 84, you would have a handicap of 12.8 for that particular round and not a 12 handicap for that round. Handicap also makes adjustments to your score. Jerome, as basically a 10 handicap, should par the 8 easiest holes and bogey the 10 hardest holes. Now, I'm not exactly sure how this works but let's say Jerome triple bogeys one of the 8 easiest holes. The handicap calculation will view that as an aberration and adjust his score on that hole to a double bogey instead of a triple.
@Milkywaymike15 сағат бұрын
@@benmitchell1185I use USGA to keep track of my handicap and I shoot consistently between 80-85 (with a couple high 70s) on various courses and my handicap is 8.1. I’m speculating Jerome doesn’t have a full 20 games applied to his handicap which is why it may be that low after he shot below 85. The reason I say this is because when I started the handicap system I shot a 59 on an executive course that was a par 54 which instantly dropped my handicap to a 2.4 (which I knew was wrong). As I played more games to surpass the 20 minimum games it finally leveled out between 7.8-8.1. Season is over, but if he played 20+ games averaging between 85-90 then I think it would realistically be around a 11-14 handicap. Just my two cents, not knocking on his progress.
@peterrutkowski817217 сағат бұрын
Looks like you are gaining confidence in all aspects of your game. It got a little loose on the back 9 but your front 9 was consistent. That seems to be a pattern. I have one question about your setup. Do you take a practice swing? Or perhaps you never video your setup routine. My suggestion is that you do as Dana suggested. Play some competitive rounds with low handicap players - you'd be surprised how much you can pick up from them.

Hi Jerome You're doing a really nice job but i don't see what you practice on the course. Here's what i mean....for a long while now you've been working on trying to play a draw....yet, you don't consistently draw the ball....in fact you hit several fades in this video. I think you should do a video in which you aim at the right side of the green and landed on the left side.....don't worry about keeping score the 1st nine. Then on the back side use the draw to actually score. You'll be amazed how quickly you will shoot in the 70s. You can also include placing a club on the ground aiming 10 yards right to work on your alighnment. Again, do it on the front 9 but not the back. This will help you be much more consistent....good luck. TT
