I know I am late to the game but this is really cool! It would be sweet to keep the shifter to be your switch for forward and reverse in my opinion. Can't wait to see where you take this!

Way cool!!! But that battery pack is SUPER sketchy. That thing has gotta go right away. You could probably get 30kwh into there max. Or a couple of new 5kwh server rack EG4 LFP batteries might do it for under $5k. Could you just put the whole drivetrain from a small compliance car in there? Like a I-miev or Fiat 500e? It would probably be lighter and a huge upgrade to have a better motor.

Low cost EVs like this actually save money rather than waste money! No more $ spent on gas, oil changes, and pesky ICE components failing.

I have to agree with you, 32 mile range is of no use and in my opinion the heart has been ripped out of this classic car.
