It’s DADGAD. It’s Colin Hay. What’s not to like? Great tone BTW

Gotta love social media! Here a guy records and posts how to play the chords of this song for the benefit of complete strangers. Yet there are negative comments about the tuning or it being accurate. If you have ever picked up a guitar you will know the tuning by just listening or simply hold a tuner to your device as he hits the six strings at the beginning. As far as accuracy, there are several videos on KZbin of Colin Hay playing this song and doing exactly what you see here. This man isn’t playing the song in its entirety, simply demonstrating how to achieve those sounds. I’m surprised there aren’t countless comments asking for tabs! If you’ve looked for a video on how to play this piece then here it is, you just have to make a little effort on your own. Thanks for posting this tutorial!

Believe it or not this is my first comment on a tutorial. I’ve listen to the song played by Colin many times but could never figure out how to do it. Yes, this doesn’t give the whole song but it certainly helped me immensely.Thanks so much for posting it. And I too, like the fact that you didn’t have to say anything. The chords speak for themselves.

Nicely done. Tuning in the beginning. No useless dialogue or ramblings. And if those who request you slow it down you can do that yourself in the KZbin settings. This was one of the best tutorials I have seen for this great song. Thank you. Do more. Wilcox uses this tuning I believe. Do some of those.

I’m no whiz but in 10 minutes I got it. Been trying for a week on other sites that have trickier riffs and some god awful chords shapes. Better to play simple well than tricky poorly. Thank you for great tutorial.

@philipwilliams58084 жыл бұрын
@@johngannon9954 Well if you can't tune your guitar from that, you need to practice tuning by ear till you can get it, as it's really simple once you can do that.
@johngannon99544 жыл бұрын
Actually, Phil no it isn’t. As a beginner, you probably aren’t aware that there are multiple ways to tune a guitar. Electric Tuner is by far the best and most accurate method. There is also Relative Tuning, Tuning by Harmonics, Tuning by Harmonics & Electric Tuner, Tuning Fork or Pitch Pipe. Once you have played the guitar for a couple of years, you may develop enough skill to hear how our of tune your guitar is right now by just using your “ear”. In the meantime, I suggest you buy an electronic tuner and use it when you practice.
