Keep in mind that in places like Montana, North Dakota, etc where they salt the roads in the winter people often own a nicer summer car, and a winter "beater" car that tends to be older, sometimes 4 wheel drive, and also full of dents from low speed winter collisions and rust hence the name beater.

I own two vehicles. My sedan I drive the majority of the time. However, since I live where there are no services, I have to haul my own household trash to the landfill. In addition, the snow is often too deep for my sedan. On such occasions I drive my 4x4 pick-up truck instead of my sedan. As a hunter in Alaska I own multiple firearms. I use pump-action shotguns for hunting bird, a Springfield .3006 rifle to hunt Caribou, and a Remington .300 Win. Mag. to hunt Moose. When I go fishing I also carry an AR-12 and a back-up .44 Mag. revolver for protection against Moose and Bear. Like all my other tools, every firearm has a specific purpose.

@@davidcosta2244 : I have only been attacked by moose, and I did not have to kill it. I was fortunate to be aware of the charging moose and was able to place a large tree between myself and the moose before it could get to me. All my bear encounters have been with non-aggressive bears. As I mentioned above, my AR-12 is my primary camp gun. However, it is damn difficult to fish while carrying a long gun. Therefore, my camp gun stays on the river bank while I fish wearing my back-up Ruger .44 Mag revolver. I also keep a string of lady-finger firecrackers in my tackle-box. If a brown bear gets too close for comfort, I will toss one or two firecrackers in their general direction. A loud noise is sufficient to scare off non-aggressive bears, but only a large caliber firearm will stop an aggressive bear.

It depends on where you live, but open carry is usually a very bad idea in many areas. You tell criminals "Hey, I've got a gun if you want it!" I've seen a number of Active Self-Protection videos of guys getting killed because they had a visible gun. I remember one open carrier going into a gas station, and the criminal walked up behind the guy and simply took his gun. Now a previously unarmed bad guy is armed and a previously armed good guy is unarmed. In areas where there isn't much crime (Wyoming, Montana, rural areas) open carry is good for bears and pumas.
@opencarry38609 сағат бұрын
@kurt1391 I have Open Carried daily from Seattle to Boise to Vegas to Phoenix with no problems ever going on my 29th year doing so. Open carry is safer overall over concealed carry by my experience and statistical analysis data. You can look like a personal gun free zone (concealed carry) and be an easy looking target or you can open carry and present yourself as a hardened target not worth engaging. Remember, criminals are not super ninjas, they are looking for victims that are easy targets with low personal risk and high rewards.

Also, gang members don't buy guns legally. They typically have illegal firearms purchased from shady back-alley gun runners from Mexico. The reason you don't see guns often is because most sane, safe, and legal people either have them in a safe at home or carry concealed for self-defense. Nationally, ~5% carry a firearm outside of their work duties (security, military, and law enforcement types), and ~60% of those conceal their firearm when they carry.

On the topic of how many households in the US has guns, the estimates are all over the place as many people that own guns don't want to admit it on surveys for a number of reasons, number one of which is that you never know who is asking and they may be interesting in making a list of places to rob, or making a list of gun owners in order to know who to confiscate guns from if they are able to pass various anti gun laws.
@andrewdriver331815 сағат бұрын
They've actually done surveys and found a lot of people will earnestly report they do not own a gun and state that they are "anti-gun" while actually owning guns. Actually we have the Brits to thank for our second amendment. It was an old English law that able bodied males be equipped and competent in use of a weapon thereby forming a militia. This freed up the main armies to campaign else where. This tradition was brought here for obvious reasons. Firearms provided security against local threats and crime, provided game for food and could be a deterrent against foreign incursions. The same is valid today here in the US. There is plenty of organized crime, people hunt and fill their freezers with meat, and with open borders there are unfortunately potential foreign threats within our nation. All 3 main roots are still valid here to this day. Most people aren't aware of the second amendments origins. Or traditions that lead to it.

The U.S. is the ONLY country on earth that has the right to keep and bear firearms and this is for a reason. Like everything else in the First 10 U.S. Constitutional Amendments (AKA The Bill of Rights), they were written to counteract perceived wrongs dropped on us by the Crown in the 1700’s. No stationing/quartering of troops in private homes. No official government religion like England had, Banning Unreasonable search and seizure. The right to a trial by a jury of our peers. No cruel and unusual punishment - “stocks and other medieval torture in the town square for ye rebellious subjects”. The guns was because the first thing King George did when America declared independence was to order the immediate seizure of all of the military weapons at the weapons depots. The Americans thus handed out weapons to everyone as it would be impossible for the British to come to every single home. And in fact, as f’d up as our gun violence problem is, anyone who wanted to come in and take over the U.S., or a tyrannical fascist, will have quite a time forcing government compliance when everyone’s armed. Imagine if all of the German and Jewish citizens living in Germany were all armed - which soldier in his right mind wants to go door to door requesting citizens to hand over their guns. Which is why we’re not at all afraid of Trump or Biden or Harris, or China or Russia - we almost all have guns and are quite skillful at using them

Let me clue you in why people own different firearms…..they do different jobs. A shotgun does not do the same thing as a rifle. A pistol is not a replacement for a rifle You aren’t going to intentionally go moose hunting with a .22lr,. The .300 win mag you hunt the moose with going to vaporize the ptarmigan that you hunt with the .22 Think of them like a set or screwdrivers. Each one is used for a different size or purpose

I live in Springfield Ohio. We have 7 vehicles. We have a boat, 5 4 wheelers, 2 dirtbikes, a go cart, a project monster truck. We have 4 dogs left after the Haitians ATE ONE OF OUR DOGS. The UK are peasants compared.

I only lived in a few places with just 1 bathroom. Most every house has 2 or more bathrooms. I lived in a 900 square foot house, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. I live in a larger 3bed 2 bath home now and adding a third bathroom is on the list of eventual upgrades. Single level home. But living with certain conditions one needs constant and immediate access to a bathroom. Also the statistic about guns is woefully inaccurate. There are 370,000,000 ish citizens, 100-150 million illegals and at least 100-150 million of us citizens own guns. 5% own a gun, because they just got started or have some beef with gun ownership. 65% own more than 6 firearms. This does not take into consideration the illegals and criminals and all their guns, only lawfully owned guns in the hands of law abiding citizens.

There's not that many illegals. Please link your source.

Typical exaggerations from Lawrence. I am losing confidence in him. He has "sold out" and is doing click bait for money. I stopped supporting him.
