A good question to ask is WHY are places people want to live in expensive? Could be more than just nice weather. Might it be corporate and real estate price gouging. Maybe big oil taking advantage of us, KNOWING we don't want to buy crappy and expensive EV's and ride the bus. Maybe life is lots cheaper elsewhere - BECAUSE not as many want to be there, and deal w the backwards hillbilly politics!

In Wisconsin it's called Energy Assistance. Everyone who pays a utility bill has a fee added to the cost which is used to subsidize the energy costs paid by low income users. If they personally pay the monthly bill it is credited to their account. If utilities are included in their rent they get a cash money payment directly to themselves. These payments can be fairly large. $1,000 once a year isn't unusual. This has been going on for decades. A pretty cozy relationship between "government" and giant corporations.

Here in Canada, a diesel-electric truck manufacturer, Edison Motors of BC, tried to get a government grant but the NDP government had a consulting firm to assist grant applicants that demanded a 20% cut of the grant to get the grant approved. This was exposed by Edison Motors the by the news networks of Canada as well as by Louis Rossmann on KZbin. Corruption at its finest in BC.

The dash on my MK3 Focus is doing the same thing. It's all a sticky mess. Part of it is the plastic itself but the other part is the soft touch coating that they spray on the plastic. Soft touch coatings almost always become sticky after a few years. I have a handful of old electronics that are like this...old cell phones, point and shoot cameras, etc. I wish companies would stop using the stuff. Soft touch used to be nice but now that we know it becomes sticky, I'll take hard "cheap" feeling plastic any day.

My favorite American cars are the OLD American cars. Make mine like Al Bundy's trusty old Dodge Dart Sport. O.K, so it's actually a '71 Plymouth Duster, but you get what I'm saying. 225 Slant Six, Torqueflite automatic, and, ah, what the heck, throw in a Sure-Grip differential just for the fun of it. The car might not be a looker, like, say, a Dodge Charger or Plymouth 'Cuda from the same Era, but it would run...and run...and it wouldn't cost a FORR-CHIN to maintain, let alone repair.

Under the previous administration our strategic oil reserves were completely filled up in case of emergency. Under this administration they have pulled it down to some of the lowest levels ever, to artificially lower the price of gas to help in an election. The problem is now oil is over $80 a barrel and this administration cannot afford to replace the oil that it took out for Time of war. They have declared war on our countries energy. Russia shouldn’t even have enough money to fight the war they are fighting right now if it wasn’t for all the gas and oil they were selling. It was not like that under the previous administration. Other countries were told not to buy oil and gas from them or the United States would not deal with them. Russia was broke. Iran was broke. Look at them now. As we beg the Saudi‘s and everybody else for oil and junk tar, after this administration called them a pariah then they laugh in his face and tell him no when he begs for more oil. These people are nuts we need real leader ship and we need to be energy independent so have plenty of gas and oil, becoming energy independent and dominant again and get energy prices down and inflation down and pay off some debt. Drill baby drill! And refine it in our country. The cost of Energy is the biggest driver of inflation.

Does that 1.6 have turbo's? how about direct injection? Those are two big no-no's that my 2.0 Kia does not have. He's right. We'd buy electric IF they were SMALLER! AND IF they were actually AVAILABLE here. I putt around here in a Kia Soul. Why? Because its small and economical AND I don't drive more than 30 miles or so on any one trip. Perfect for a small EV IF I could plug into 115VAC, 20 amp extension cord to charge it over a coupla days or so. But tell you what I ain't buying a vehicle that has a ONE TON BATTERY! AND one that cost $80k! Yep if the battery is bigger than a 24vdc golf cart battery its too big.
