The thing to me is, if you invest and have other income outside of dividends then you will be able to live off dividends without selling. Which means you can pass that on to your kids which will give them a leg up in life. $52k dividends received in 2022.

I agree! That's why it is advisable that you have to invest while you still have a regular job or earning a regular income, and do it constantly. You still need to have something that will keep you going even if you're investing. Good financial planning and money allocation is the key.

If you live near a train route, take a look at what they are carrying. The vast majority have coal, oil, lumber, other building materials, cars, and agriculture items. Canadian pacific is more volatile than Union Pacific and Union Pacific has a higher dividend. UP is the safer railroad play.

word around the campfire is he was removed because his sister accused him of molestation. Notice how vague the board was about exactly WHY he was getting fired. But they should at least have done an internal investigation before removing him. Very sloppy.

The reason the railroads have been outperforming is the change of their scheduling. This is already played out. Do not expect further margin expansion.

While I don’t know what’s happening at OpenAI, the fact that employees can prevent a board from performing the proper governance is appalling. I don’t think this is a win for society at all.
@peterbooc9786 Жыл бұрын
This is an expectation / recency / availability biased video. CP is not overvalued in general terms, the past 10 years average PE is 22 while CP has a forward PE of exactly that, 22. For some reason you are comparing the dips within your own portfolio while neglecting the historical and instristic value of CP. In my opinion from these batch of stocks VICI is the most undervalued.

I like the video but a little fact check on the Michel star comment for Las Vegas, which you link to having an unsurpassed restaurant game. There are no 5 star michelin restaurants, the most you can get is 3, and there are only 10 restaurants with a Michelin star in Vegas, not even cracking the top 20 worldwide (Tokyo has more than 200). Even Macau, quite comparable to Las Vegas in prestige, has 15.

Hi, thanks for the video. In the video, CP's SBC impact on Qualtrim caught my eye. In your videos, you often point out the high SBC impact on a company's free cash flow. Can I ask why you don't feel the SBC impact is an issue for CP?

May I ask how long you have owned VICI and have they paid every month?
@absw6129 Жыл бұрын
I thought your investment style was based on buying companies with high ROCE, but that seems to be a bit low. Gross margins and revenue looks good for Canadian Pacific, but ROCE is less than 6%. Of course, if we believe they will get to high ROCE, the stock should follow over time.
@methos1999 Жыл бұрын
Joseph's investing philosophy has changed over time. But in general my own experience says even with an set of rules it's still a bit of an art picking stocks. As he says rail is a very difficult industry to get into so perhaps in this case the strength of the moat outweighs the ROCE. I don't own CP, so this is just conjecture on my part.

I was advised to diversify my portfolio among several assets such as stocks and bonds since this can protect my inherited portfolio of about $2.5m. I’m used to just buying and holding assets which doesn’t seem applicable to the current rollercoaster market plus inflation is catching up with my portfolio. I’m really worried about survival after retirement.
@BridgetMiller-5 ай бұрын
True, I mostly just buy and hold stocks, but my portfolio has been mostly in the red for quite awhile now. Unfortunately to be able to make good gains, you’ll need to be consistent and restructure your portfolio frequently.

In my opinion, it was much easier investing back in the 60s but it’s a lot trickier now, those making consistent profit in these times are professionals reason I’ve been using an advisor for the past 5 years to consistently build my portfolio in preparations for retirement.
