Erica, Even though they warped I really like the looks of your successful chip&dip bowls, better than the one that exploded (sorry guy). If the bowls were round before firing then the warping might be due to the clay getting too soft at top temperature and gravity pulling them out of shape. You might try firing to a cone lower or trying a different clay body and see if that helps. This is a common problem with high fired porcelain which gets quite plastic at top temperature, even the handle on a mug can pull it out of round. Sometimes pieces need temporary supports in order to hold their shape.
