One big positive in favor of backing rockers off, is that you let the valves totally seal off the cylinders. This is a big help wherever there are extreme temperature swings and condensation is a problem.

Crower makes top quality everything! We have used their stuff since the 90s & decades before for my other engine builder friends! There’s Crower parts that are 30yrs old still running in circle track & bracket engines! The guys at Torquestorm are all machinists, they make great parts! They make more than just superchargers! Finally for fuel systems for dynos, look at Steve Morris’s old old, how to dyno your Procharged engine! He explains the fuel systems, what works & what doesn’t! It helped us way back when! Finally, take your kid to the dyno or track with you, have some jobs thought out for him, even if you need to teach him on the spot! Making him responsible under fire will take his mind off of swimming for a minute! Sometimes kids need to forget about their day to day norm! Besides he will learn something new!

At a hemi engine shop I worked at I learned the importance of checking valve events on hole 1 and 6 . We were checking for bank angle consistency. It was crazy to learn some blocks were as much as 6 degrees off. Then a cam would be custom ground to get valve events right. Please do a video showing this on a bbc or any block. Some viewers would find it interesting.
@Torquemonster4408 ай бұрын
Wow.. custom cam easier than decking the Block ?.... According to my machinist.. before zero decking, my 440 block was .013" outta whack from end to end.. 😬..

I believe the problem most people had with Valve springs that sat around under compression was that they also had moisture in them and the springs got rust on them that caused the failure and people thought it was because they were under compression, instead of looking for the real root cause

Younger Enthusiasts believe that they have invented the wheel and KZbin is always correct. As for all these engine builds I'm learning a lot. Just my opinion.

I have had a couple failed Crower roller tips, Crower replaced them for no charge even though I did not buy them directly. The arms did not break, just knocked the bearings out of the roller tips increasing lash, I caught it before big trouble occurred . They are a good alternative to Jesel, or T & D.

I run a solid roller in my BBC using Manley Nextek 221424-16 springs. They are set up to with 300 intake seat and 340 seat exhaust pressures. I haven’t backed them off over the last two winters and hadn’t noticed any breaking, valve float or loss in mph. I ran the springs in that engine for the last 10 years(car sat a lot so there were only about 200 passes on the springs). This year though I replaced them as I am concerned they are close to their fatigue life end. My valves are 3/8” Manley Stainless and I have revved the engine to 7900rpm often. I now shift at 74-7500 and trap about 7300 but those old springs saw a lot of tough life.😂 In my opinion it is good practice to go through the lash every 10 to 15 passes and seat check the pressure at that time too. My valve train now is pretty happy and the lash doesn’t move much. Spring seat pressure stays pretty consistent too however it is wise to keep a really close eye on the valve train! Especially as you increase rpm! Higher the rpm the more often you should check. NA racer friends of mine running in NMCA 10.5 check the springs/lash every pass. It’s not hard if you have a remote start button in the engine bay and go through the lash the right way. 😎

I had a 1000 sportster engine I bought in early 2000s that was rebuilt in 1982 that was tossed onto a shelf and never started it still had the country power tag hanging off it, I checked the bore it was rust free but the springs in it were smoked well one or 2 were anyway it wouldn't turn much past 4500 just valve float, the carb and ignition came off the strong running 900 engine I replaced it with, I was going to replace em but I sold it.

I wonder if it is possible to rotate the crank to a position where none of the valves are at full lift? Or maybe one valve is at full lift and only back that one off?
@arturozarate17528 ай бұрын
Eric, does the blower have its own dedicated belt? If so, you might consider running a larger crank pulley to increase the boost. The smaller and smaller the blower pulley, the less belt you hav3 on it. Also, ATI use to make the "super pulley". It was a one way clutched super charger pulley. If I wasn't slipping the belt then I was throwing them. Just wanted to share what helped me to win more races when I ran a centrifugal blower.

Looks like I’m going to have to take a bunch of the sides of the runner, like it has core shift or something going on. I’m not going to touch it till I get the heads in the motor and then intake in the heads for mock up. Thanks for the videos.

What do you think about the DLC coating for lifters? Do you think it’s worth the extra cost of buying another set of lifters?

I have a set of worked head’s laying around along with a camshaft I bought years ago, so I bought the DLC lifters already and I plan on doing a cam swap on a old decent motor I have. evolution is extremely interesting, but often you want to influence it too late. sometimes it has to be obvious before you want to influence. so when you want to make an impact, you might as well not do it. meaningless when it's too late. old times will soon go to the grave.
