It was all in his head, he was creating scenarios on how he could be with his sister, with only one obstacle in the way, which was their dad. That's why he had the same voice as the cop because he was the obstacle. And that also goes along with what you say is the best ending, when the dad talks about his imagination and the stories or scenarios he creates in his head. But even his mind would not let him win. That's why he was stuck in the loop. And did you notice that the neighbors could represent the two outcomes. The left door he raises the baby and stays with his sister, and the right he disappears and leaves her. Which is why the apartment is empty.

Ah i get it. the "present" moment is actually him in the chair and each loop is him imagining if it could work out right? so the hitman is the father literally forcing his way into those delusions to literally kill the thought of her being with him in his mind. if so that's an EXCELLENT premise, and the delivery of the details was top notch

“Only by forgetting do you drop the thread of time and truly step into living in the present moment" The red book explains it all. The dad was never shot or killed, Donald never married his sister, Donald just wants it so bad that he created all these scenarios in his head.

@justgiveaniggaafry...2068

Both endings are fucked tho cause there’s one where he lives with his sister as his wife and the mother of his child and one where he just up and leaves her to raise his child by herself which is debatably just as bad… although most of the story was in “Donald’s” head I think some of it was based in reality like the wife being pregnant, the dad literally says it and as far as we know everything that happened in that room with the dad was reality no matter what ending you got… I know there are other endings but those two were the only ones that would become a reality if “Donald” went through with them all the other ones are him trying to figure out how to make it work or him just living a lie in his own imagination and the one where he forgets is his excuse or solution for every ending, think about it… the one where he excepts it and “forgets” about her, the one where he stays and acts like he doesn’t know she’s his sister, and really those are the only two that matter because every other ending either causes or inadvertently leads up to one of those endings or is just completely in his head… but the two where he ends up being with her or ending up alone are both decisions he could have made after the father died… and that’s what the story is, it’s him running scenarios in his mind to get this relationship to work, after killing the father, with his subconscious throwing “The cop” at him which is his morals getting in the way of him achieving his happy ending and him “forgetting” is just a lie he is trying to use to justify what he is doing… the father always died, the wife/sister always got pregnant, and this nigga Donald always lost in the end… he never found a “good ending”
@jamall7003
@jamall7003 2 жыл бұрын
yeah i believe this is the truth and the game gives you very small details of how. one of the big kinda tucked away details being the death of the "father". The Wife says she shot him and ran miles away from home where she then met Donald for *the first time* then 8 years later they are married and she is pregnant, but Donald only finds out about her pregnancy during the loop. So knowing that, how does the "father" not only know that they dating but also that she is pregnant if he is dead. Also if the father abandoned Donald when he was a baby and the Wife meets him for the first time miles away from home, weeks after she shot her dad, Donald could not have been there to even kill the father in the first place cause he wouldn't even know where they live and that the wife is his sister, same goes for the "The Wife". the only thing that makes sense is that Donald is living this sick twisted drama filled life all in his head due to his trauma of being abandoned at child birth and never truly having a loving family when his real family hates his guts for something he never even did.

I hope Luis sees this. Berlin is showing so much respect to him by looking into this so deeply. I also hope more games come out like this or if there are others that came out before this, Berlin should definitely play them. Seeing him so invested into the different storylines just got me more invested into it. I felt like I was watching a psychological thriller movie but even when it was over, there was more to watch. One of the best playthroughs i've seen.

I think one of the coolest things in this game is that the wife sometimes hums the French nursery rhyme, Frere Jacques(translates to Brother John in Eng). In this situation, the husband(now we know as the brother) needs to wake up. In law enforcement, the name "John Doe" is used for men we don't have specific identities for. So our main character is literally Brother John.

Have you noticed that in some flashbacks the father has hair and in others he is bold just like the "cop" and the cop and father also seem to have the same voice. And like Berleezy says about him wanting continue to live out the best minutes of his life, so is the cop, in a way, the dad? continuing to come in and mess everything up (killing the daughter) so that he has to relive his lie until he faces the truth? Almost schizophrenic like in a way?

@@Zeroshiki ohh I see what you’re saying , maybe I misunderstood the story but I thought Donald had suffered a psychological break due to trauma (due to the fact that he lost everything) which causes the time-loops and this he’s just replaying scenarios in his mind (like you do when you suffer from ptsd) and each scenario where he tries to be with his sister causes the loop to restart . I think the reality of the game is that the entire game is in the main character's head. His wife is a concept of being happy, but the reality is that happiness isn't with family or desire, but through the flow of time. Donald should be in jail, but he can't because all of this was in his head. The stories he tells. The time loop, everything.

3:10 it makes sense; we got the ending that left you feeling really empty. Kinda like the same ending from undertale. It’s not that you want to see two half siblings shacking up; it’s that there’s a whole lot more from the story that needed to be resolved, and with the way it ended we didn’t quite get the closure. I get what you’re saying.

I think the ending where he never met her and comes back to a completely empty apartment is still a fantasy. He's still obsessed with her through a fantasy. I think it's just to symbolize that his life is empty/missing things without her. That's why even though he's not with her, only the clock is still there, so he can get back into the loop again. Edit: Also, he is manually resetting the clock to reenter the loop.

i just came back to this from watching the first part of corys gameplay of 12 minutes and in the beginning where you enter the lobby there are two paintings, the one on the left is a bookshelf and there is a red book aka the wife’s book with the quote and whatever and then the one on the right is a painting of a lotus flower aka the flower that the dad helps him envision when he forgets everything. great foreshadowing, you would’ve never guessed.

It’s also one hell of a commentary on the “sins of the father” trope: their dad is the one who is directly responsible for what went down because he “wasn’t the man he wanted to be”. But THEN, we get the dad telling his son that HE’S actually the source of the problem, rather than himself. Not only is he not seeing himself as the locus of the problem (is that called dissembling?) but he’s also placing all of his life’s sins on his son. It leads to a whole plot line where his son does…morally questionable things around family, things that kinda pervert the entire idea of what we believe family to be. Meanwhile, you can’t ignore that everything that occurs in the true ending is because Donald’s father’s actions sent him into a severe mental health crisis completely outside of his control.

The daughters name is Dahlia (flower), has not bloomed yet (not being born)...the pregnancy was the hypnotism that "Donald" (main character) was using to remain in the loop and forget his past...this was all his mind playing tricks on him through hypnotism, none of it was real except his love for his sister
