Something that's worth noting about the witch saying "I love you", she's specifically saying "aishiteru" which is an INCREDIBLY profound like lifelong type of "I love you", people in Japan do not say that lightly it's like something you say on your death bed or after you've been married for awhile, the more "normal" or casual "I love you" is "daisuki", that's the more common form you'd hear a couple especially if they're just dating or something would say. So the fact that the witch not only used that form of love but used it over and over really shows a sort of unhinged obsession she has with Subaru.

Technically speaking that was Emillia. The Witch of Envy is sealed away. Envy tried to punish Subaru for speaking of Return By Death but couldn't make it into the dream world. So she possesed Emilia prematurely and used her to start killing everyone Subaru cares about as a means to inflict a punishment's and force a reset.

Damn, I forgot how the anime version of the Typhon scene makes Subaru look like an idiot. Wish they'd just given a tiny peek at his thoughts so people would stop thinking this man is an idiot. Subaru isn't Roswaal level smart or anything, but he has a very keen mind when it comes to processing information and planning. THIS IS WHY INTERNAL MONOLOGUES ARE IMPORTANT THINGS TO ADAPT PEOPLE! As a note for Satella's power, remember that it was stated she destroyed "half the world" with her power 400 years ago. Betty said this all the way back in early season 1, so even someone powerful like Garf gets fucking destroyed by the witch. How literal she meant that line is debatable, but suffice to say, she's beyond any enemy Subaru has seen so far. Interested to see your reactions to the next episode. I look forward to more.

The whole 'is it Emilia possessed' or 'is it the witch thing' seems to be made intentionally confusing, readers still don't know if the witch of envy was crying over Subaru killing himself, or it was Emilia crying because she wasn't in control. In the web novel it seemed to be the latter but don't worry too much about it.

I am a huge advocate for the belief that a lot of fictional problems could be solved faster and mysteries unveiled sooner if the characters were just freaking straight to the point! Sure, if an issue is truly difficult to answer then it has a natural and authentic psychological feel to it. However, I swear bro, Re:Zero is a unique, amazing show in and of itself (enough to possibly be considered a masterpiece), but sometimes like a few other psychological shows, I tend to feel like they at times try way too hard to sound “sophisticated” and “complicated” than they actually have to be. They just dance around problems and take up so much time. But then again, The show does do a good job of “keeping the suspense” and even with these minor annoyances, I still want to know more about the lore. It’s quite interesting. Although, I don’t know if I’m one of the only ones who feel like this sometimes.

Ah yikes, it's unfortunate but also understandable, y'all forgot that Emilia has always been said to possess a, and I quote: "Striking resemblance to the witch of jealousy, Satella.". Meaning Emilia is known to LOOK like her, that's why she's shunned by society, because she's a half-elf (like Satella) and she's silver-haired (like Satella) and her eyes and face resemble that of Satella's. Next episode was the trippiest one so far, I watched The whole series up until season 2 part 2 and I watched the next episode at around like 2 am, safe to say I was creeped tf out. The second trial also answered a question I always had about what if him returning by death really meant he was going into parallel universes somehow. Also, if his Return by Death is unlimited, does that mean he will never die, even of old age.... just some questions (rhetorical) to think about
