Hey Matthew. For a bit of context on rewrite the stars the two characters are in love but can't be together bc zendaya's is African American and at the time the movie takes place interracial relationships are frowned upon so while zac wants to be open about it she feel like they can't because society won't accept them

@crimsonrealm7 Жыл бұрын
Now that you mention it, in Rewrite the stars maybe there was a reason why Zendeya has the deep tone while Zach has the airy tone. From the lyrics, we can say that the character that Zack is playing is like -living in the clouds wishing for a romantic relationship Zendeyas's character. Hence the "Airy" tone of voice Zendeya's character on the other one is contrasting and saying "Its impossible" because the reality is there will be a lot of opposition, and she can feel it. Hence the "Deep" tone to convey the pressure that the character is feeling. Or rather than deep, we can say that her voice is rather "Grounded and Restricted" while he's is more "Free" Were bound to break and my hands are tied broo the lyrics are sooo well written

And then you learn that Hugh wasn’t even supposed to be singing due to a minor sinus surgery right beforehand. So they brought Jeremy Jordan in to sign while Hugh did the speaking and “acted” the songs. Jeremy was led to believe this was a precursor to getting cast in the role Zach got - Jeremy got screwed over because they wanted a more mainstream name.

A little context: The Greatest Showman is about a man that wants to make a show/circus with people that are "different" than the average person. Some examples are: a woman with a beard, a "dwarf" and the worlds heaviest man. So a lot of the people outside of the circus don't like them because of their differences. :)
@lizamoonblooded4196 Жыл бұрын
The movie is a fictional retelling of the Barnum and Bailey Brothers Circus. I say fictional because the actual truth isn't that great. Barnum(who is the only Ringling Brother to appear in the film) takes in "freaks" to be apart of a new business venture he wants to try. The movie shows the con man and the family man of Barnum and even though it's not telling a real factual story, it's still a great retelling of the story. I do want to say before people get mad at me and "hate comment" this comment. "Freaks" are what the performers of the circus were called. Them being called that was horrible and it doesn't excuse how the performers were treated back in the 1800s. But, I'm trying to be factually correct with my wording no matter how bad the language was back then.

It was one of the first circus’ with “freak shows” not being a real thing thing anymore, they’re just unique people. I loved this video and hope we see you do the rest! Edit: That would also explain the forbidden love, it’s in a time where interracial relationships would be seen as wrong and Zac’s character is trying to convince her the world doesn’t matter to their love and they don’t need to hide anymore behind the walls of their own home.
@Blossom_Screen Жыл бұрын
Hey I’m so sorry to inform you but the people in PT Barnums show were very much still paraded around and treated as “freaks” and in-fact Barnum barley considered them human. He treated them (and his animals) horrifically and even sold tickets to an enslaved woman’s autopsy as he claimed she was the “Oldest [insert slur] in the world!” And that she had been owned by George Washington (very much not true). And that’s not even getting STARTED on how he treated the real life Jenny Lind… I really wish they had made this movie about a fully fictional character rather than trying to polish and paint and glitter over a the story of a very bad person.

Between projects like The Greatest Showman, Dear Evan Hansen and Spirited the songs are just so well written and constantly surprising. I highly suggest you check out songs from DEH and Spirited as well as they go even further to show how amazing they are. Songs I'd recommend: Never Enough from The Greatest Showman The Other Side from The Greatest Showman From Now On from The Greatest Showman Tightrope from The Greatest Showman The Greatest Show (actual start) from The Greatest Showman --- Unredeemable from Spirited the Apple Original Good Afternoon from Spirited the Apple Original Bringin' Back Christmas from Spirited the Apple Original The View From Here from Spirited the Apple Original The View From Here (Riverwalk) from Spirited the Apple Original Do A Little Good from Spirited the Apple Original Ripple (Cut Song) from Spirited the Apple Original The cast: Will Ferrell, Ryan Reynolds, Octavia Spencer --- You Will Be Found from Dear Evan Hansen (either movie or musical. Beautiful harmonies in this one) Words Fail from Dear Evan Hansen (either movie or musical. I personally preferred the video of the movie) Good For You from Dear Evan Hansen (from the musical) So Big / So Small from Dear Evan Hansen (either movie or musical. Both very different voices) Anybody Have A Map from Dear Evan Hansen (from the musical) Waving Through A Window from Dear Evan Hansen (either movie or musical. I personally preferred the musical version) Requiem from Dear Evan Hansen (either movie or musical) For Forever from Dear Evan Hansen (either movie or musical) Sincerely, Me from Dear Evan Hansen (either movie or musical) Only Us from Dear Evan Hansen (either movie or musical) Today Feels A Little Closer from Dear Evan Hansen (from the movie) Anonymous One from Dear Evan Hansen (from the movie) Bedroom Down The Hall (cut song, but very beautiful) The musical cast: Ben Platt, Laura Dreyfuss, Mike Faist, Rachel Bay Jones, Jennifer Laura Thompson The movie cast: Ben Platt, Kaitlyn Dever, Colton Ryan, Julianne Moore, Amy Adams, Amandla Stenberg

I would also add the Pasek & Paul wrote the lyrics to most of the songs in the film La La Land (music by Justin Hurwitz). After working with them on Spirited, Ryan Reynolds also enlist P&P to write a funny tribute song to Rob McElhenney, with whom Reynolds bought a football team in Wales (you should react to the docu-series Welcome To Wrexham)..

I’d love to see you watch the whole movie (it’s one of my favorite musicals), but if that’s not something you’d want to do I’d still love to see you react to more songs from it. Especially The Other Side, Tightrope, Never Enough, and From Now On. Besides the songs in this video, I feel like those 4 have some really powerful vocals I’d love to watch you experience 💜

Have you watched Spirit Stallion of the Cimmeron? It’s a little different then what you typically watch but the music is SO GOOD. There’s almost no talking, just action and music. I’d highly suggest it!

Keala Settle (This is me) performed a few times with Hugh Jackman in 2019 on his world tour and I was lucky enough to see it. Her voice is even more amazing in person! Incredible talent x

btw, the music video you saw for the Greatest Show, isn't the full song. There's usually a more quiet build up part in the beginning (which is my favorite part).

9:35 the beginning of the movie has Hugh Jackman/PT Barnum and Charity as kids and then it jumps a decade or 2 later when they are adults

Your guesses are pretty on point. The first song is both the intro AND the ending. The switch is somewhere around Zac Efron.

I absolutely love watching your reactions and I love The Greatest Showman so this video was hella enjoyable, seeing your mind be blown more and more with each new song! This movie is really something else, so I reccomend that maybe you could listen to the rest of the songs, just for yourself. They give me goosebumps even after so much time, so I'm really happy you enjoyed them so much! Take care Mathew!

the greatest showman is about a guy named PT Barnum (Hugh Jackman) who starts a circus for the known "freaks." he then partners with a playwriter(?) named Phillip Carlyle (Zac Effron) and Phillip becomes PT's assistent sort of. the movie basically follows everyones struggles and life while the people in the circus get a lot of hate. sorry if i messed up some details. been a while since ive seen it.

I would literally love to see his reaction to Epic: The Musical (Epic is a musical written by Jorge Rivera-Herrans about the Odyssey! It's not finished yet and its only recently been releasing concept albums, The Troy Saga and the Cyclops Saga, but the songs are beautifully written. Jorge is such musical genius!)
