Love to watch Suyong prepare a meal because he is so enthusiastic about what he does (shopping for groceries, explaining uses for different ingredients, suggests other options to try instead of the traditional, knows cookware, etc) and can elevate a simple dish, make a restaurant dish inexpensively at home and he entertains as well as informs you. I wait to see what he makes every week.

Ohh, need to thank my mum for buying such a simple rice cooker - never have to do much except wipe it (the lid) down with a damp towel after every cooking, and clean the ventilation area. There are no nooks and crannies collecting condensed vapour too! Also we always wash and soak our rice in a separate glass or metal bowl :) to prevent the coating from being rubbed off. Our rice cooker is 9 years old and thriving.

A pressure cooker is much simpler to clean and simple to use as well. I am not sure if this particular electric rice cooker has some additional functionalities. Our electric rice cooker is much simpler to use and clean than the one shown here. I know I am way behind technology when it comes to appliances but would love to know more about them.

I cook rice every second day, I haved never own a rice cooker. Now seeing the mantaince routine, I will continue to cook rice in a pot using the method I was taught before everyone had a rice cooker.

It's easier to clean a pressure cooker or stonepot or claypot. In India all homes use a pressure cookers to cook rice and dal. The rice water also can be drained out so we lose most of the starch, this way we eat rice with less starch in it. Can't be done with these electric rice cookers. Plus we never know when there is going to be a power cut. Gas stoves r more reliable than electric appliances. Gas is also cheaper than electricity here.
