I stumbled upon this video and was sympathetic to your situation as I experienced the same thing when I started practicing the Shinobue, fue. I too purchased an inexpensive one but refused to give up. I finally took on a coach and he told me the more expensive fue are easier. He allowed me to try his and he was 100% correct. Hope you are still playing, David

Yup, this is me right now. If you don't mind mentioning, what video did you find helpful? Hope you've been doing well since NATC!

The bamboo shinobue flute is easier to play. A plastic shinobue flute (what you're using) is cheaper, but much harder to get sound out of. I have both plastic and bamboo shinobue flutes. So I can understand. I hope you made good progress since this video was posted.

Hi do you have any tips or resources on how to improve for a beginner? I stole my brother's plastic shinobue flute since he never played it but I'm a little stuck and don't know where to start.

Wow, that was pretty painful indeed. Keep it up though! Learning any instrument is hard, won't be different with this one I guess... Btw, will there be anymore videos in/about the Dutch language?

Wow that was awful! ;) Tip: I think you blow far too hard. You need almost one lungful for one tone now. Try to be more subtle. You can do it!
