I believe that that was your intent, and that you probably just thought you guys were on the same wavelength, but unfortunately I just can't help but think that that kinda opening salvo is much more likely to elicit a response of: "He's hoping to use the cheesiest shit his character's got and/or online only tactics to scrape a single win, dip, then shoot me a msg saying 'gg ez thx for the points.'" Than it is to elicit a response of: "Oh, tell me about it! Goshdarned loading times! >.

I'm glad you came here to explain that because I've been thinking about trying out Granblue and seeing that immediate T-bag from the 1st player online immediately turned me off. Thanks for explaining, but I agree with Benjaminfenn that I don't think you are communicating what you thought you were.

​​​@@theProClaimerquite a lot of people nowadays use tbagging just as a means of trying to ommunicate a shared sentiment with the other player in games where there's not a clear way to communicate in the moment; it's not uncommon for me to run into situations where, for example, some goofy clash sequence happens, and after we reset to neutral both me and the other person just started tbagging for a bit as a lol. Have had equivalents in other genres without a chat as well (and sometimes even with, like monster hunter). The gradual evolution of this use from its original meaning makes misunderstandings like this emerge more and more though ofc

I mean, tbf, fighting games lack ways to communicate with other players, so we're left using what we have- teabag/other movement and taunt. That's like... it. As a primarily offline player, I've used (and had used against me) teabags to communicate the following: 'That was a sick combo/whiff punish' 'Jesus christ I/you were lucky to win that round' 'These games are fun' Alongside the obvious 'you suck' or whatever. Obvs offline you can then explain your position to someone whereas online you can't, which leads me back to the lack of adequate communications methods online- and I think the games suffer for it. I realise I'm lucky to have an offline scene, but wanted to share my experiences as they are relevant here.

It’s not good when a patch makes people think they should stop playing a character due to a nerf. It is good if you want to try a character cause of buffs. Obvious statement but sometimes it feels like devs aren’t thinking so much about what nerfs might mean in the aftermath

You're literally only thinking of nerfs for like 1/20 characters in the cast and not how they effect the other 19 characters by being so oppressive. Nerfs are good in moderation, we have this conversation every time a clear top tier is getting nerfs. If your enjoyment of a character is the power fantasy of being strong, it's not going to last in a competitive environment.

I was having a ton of fun playing this character, super weird they nerfed her given she's not even that good. Hopefully they'll fix it in another patch.

Tbf, if they had nerfed the other top tiers that didn't get nerfed, she'd end up top 5 easy. They already hit Nier fairly hard, Seox got some touches, amd likely after nerfs to Seig and Lance post EvoJap, shed end up high in the tier list. She wouldn't have been top 1, but IMO it's not a great look when a guest character and rule breaker sits too high in a game. You want characters from your franchise to be represented in tourneys, and for them to be playing the game their in, nkt their own game. It's partially why people didn't like Akuma in T7, and a big part of why SSBU players dislike Kaz and Steve

Guests characters help with sales because a lot of people love them (not me personally, even tho I do play 2B because she's fun) so honestly most companies are probably happier to bring in new sales than mad it's not their IP doing the lifting.

@@theProClaimer the character design is beyond terrible. Same as every other gatcha game. It's a genre of inherently trash products with trash designs and unfortunately it survived the transition to a more interesting genre of game. I have not seen a fighting game with worse character designs. they may be well animated but they are well animated trash.
