Meredith next time you change the oil get you a pair of dish washing gloves that go half way up your arms. They are thicker than normal rubber gloves and will give you a little bit more insulation from the hot oil. A long sleeve shirt wouldn’t hurt either 😉 oh and don’t put the gloves in the trash when your done just wipe your hands with a rag till they are somewhat clean and put them up for the next time. A long handled ratchet and socket might be easier for you when removing the oil drain plug😁 no confusing wrenches 😂 that was pretty funny I had a good laugh. Happy birthday to your son. Pound cake is my favorite too.

Back when I was growing up, we called fresh milk "sweet milk". It seemed to mean that it was fresh and not sour. We only had a wooden "ice box" to keep milk fresh. The early 1940's some think it was the good old days but I remember out houses, water well you had to draw you bucket of water and keep on a shelf in the kitchen. We kept a dipper in the bucket for anyone who might be thirsty.
@CCovell4 жыл бұрын
I did the same in the summer. We had a cabin on a lake with no power or water. We had a kerosene stove and lamps to cook and for light, a wood stove for warmth. outhouse "down the path" , and a strong family with a lot of love.
@rayswick47074 жыл бұрын
And we used to argue who's turn it was to dump the slop bucket.
@Night56Owl4 жыл бұрын
Yep. Sweet milk is what folks used to call whole milk. Lots of recipes before the 1950s used that term. Also “moderate oven” (350F nowadays)

Larry Gldn wow,....that’s a lotta history,....in the ‘old days’,...the way it was done..! But the KEY to discussion of time, is when your companion brought up living thru the Depression. Hard to beat a good pound cake.. YUMMMM :) Something I do when messing with my car stuff, changing oil etc.. is to wear a pair of those black nitrile disposable gloves. They are very strong and saves the grease, oil etc.. from under the nails or on skin, much easier cleanup.
