Anybody who knows me, knows I have tried just about every journaling method in the book. Almost none have worked for me. Which makes sense, we are all different. That said, I have combined the lessons I learned from multiple different methods to come up with my simple 4 step method to have maximum effectiveness while journaling.
Here's the journaling method I adapted to that changed my life.

As someone more experienced in life (my way of saying older as I'm 58 at this writing.), life is about stacking experiences. That's what you mention in your fourth section. Document them, realize that those pursuits are what make you happy. Live your life, stack your experiences, document them and repeat similar things. Just my thoughts!

i opened youtube to find something on journaling - mostly because i'm procrastinating my own journal, lol - and the algorithm dropped this video in my lap. the part about hard truths is real. i don't journal often, mostly only when there's really something on my mind i can't shake any other way, but that kinda means that i feel quite a bit of contempt towards my journal, since it mostly holds the ugliest parts of myself and my life. maybe i need to do it more often outside of crisis so it becomes more of a neutral tool than a pandora's box that i hide in the back of my shelf.

The hard truths are arguably the least talked about part of journaling, at least from what I’ve seen on KZbin. Ironically, it’s one of the most vital and important aspects of it too. I’m grateful that this video was helpful in showing that aspect and the power you give yourself when you acknowledge those “not so pretty” moments. I appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to share your thoughts and experience. It means a lot! All the best, Collin

This kind of clicked that writing immediate thoughts records so much more rather than writing everything in order. As usual, doing that I kinda lose motivation and end up not writing the main thing I wanted to. Also, a minimalistic journey is better for me as I think it won't make me feel overwhelmed in a way. Thanks this was good!

You hit the nail directly on the head! I used to do the exact same thing and try to always do it in order and before I knew it, I didn’t even want to journal anymore. Therefore, I got nothing out of the experience because I didn’t even get to the part(s) I wanted to journal about in the first place. I can’t thank you enough for the amazing feedback and taking the time out of your day to stop by and share your thoughts. All the best, Collin
