Interesting spin on the old family favorite of "pigs in a blanket!" Have done this when our kids were little (the youngest is now 42), only we baked them in the oven. The mayo just adds additional unnecessary grease - the pastry dough has plenty in it already. And they taste better if you use barbecue sauce instead of the ketchup/mayo mix.

@@slacker1 Haha, I grew up in town about 75 mi SW of Houston, went to school 1-8 grades starting about 60 years ago now where the lady running the cafeteria still had her Czech accent and many kids grandmothers still didn't speak English, only Czech. Yep, kolaches are very popular, unfortunately very few are real kolaches, they just don't get the dough right, it's like a regular bread roll and that ain't the right taste or texture.

What's the purpose of the initial boil? Hot dogs are precooked already, and this ends with them in an air fryer for 15 minutes. There's no need for that initial cooking as far as I can tell.

Probably pre-cooking or to remove some of the fat in them - but you then add more grease with the mayo, and hot dogs (a.k.a., skinny bologna logs) are pre-cooked already anyway.
