I am in China right now. And I am surprised by your experience. I mean you knew that there is a big firewall and did no preparation. There are Hong Kong data SIMs you can get with full google support. I got one before traveling here. Google Translate is not blocked and you can download the languages before you arrive in China. Other remarks: Uber was in China and lost to Didi and others so they disappeared. I fear your negativitiy and prejudice kept attracting new negativity. Together with your arrogance of expecting people to speak your language and going to a country without any preparation is beyond me. I had a wondeful experience so far. Even the Hotel staff on the reception spoke german to me. (my mother language) Everything so far went splendid. The service is nice. The Hotel can call a taxi or if you call a Didi they open up the door for you and take your laguage to the car. So if you come to China with a bit of a different mood maybe and also preperation you can also attract more positive experiences.

I visited China last year and was genuinely surprised by what I found. Despite hearing many negative things beforehand, my trip opened my eyes to the country’s remarkable growth and development. They focus on their own growth despite negativity from the outside world, and the discipline and hard work of the people truly stand out. It was refreshing to see a culture dedicated to advancing and improving, challenging my previous perceptions. This experience taught me the value of approaching new places with an open mind.

I’ve always loved your content, but this video left me feeling so disappointed. It came across as incredibly biased and judgmental. You didn’t even give China a fair chance-right from the start, it felt like you had preconceived ideas against it. The people seemed genuinely kind to you, and the streets looked clean and safe, but everything seemed negative in your eyes. I’m not Chinese, but I can only imagine how hurt your Chinese followers must feel. They deserved better, and I’m sure they’re deeply disappointed too.🥺

First of all, China does not allow check-in batteries, you can take the camera battery out and carry it with you, Guangzhou as the place of entry will be basically scanned. Secondly, the ATM you first used was only a Pudong Development Bank only machine, if you pay attention you'll notice there is no sign of the bank card you used, and Chinese bank card PINs are all six digits, so you entered it multiple times and still didn't succeed, which led to the machine suspending its service after multiple failures. Thirdly, I believe a lot of youtuber videos mention that China is not a British country, so you can turn on the translator on your phone to communicate with the driver, and if you're paying attention there are English price lists on the cabs. Sorry for what happened to you, but in a way it was also a result of your lack of preparation. Instead of venting a bunch of negative energy here, telling people about the mistakes you made and how to avoid them would make your video more interesting.

It’s disappointing to see a travel vlogger misrepresent such a beautiful country due to a lack of preparation. Instead of appreciating China’s rich culture and history, his negative review reflects more on his own choices than the destination itself. It’s important for travelers to take accountability for their behavior and language, and to approach new places with respect and an open mind, rather than trying to take advantage of them. Travel should be about learning and connecting, not criticizing without understanding, someone like him travel to poorer countries with the mindset that his money can buy love or companionship. His sleezy behavior not only disrespects the culture but also skews his perception of the country. When China didn’t accept his attitude, he retaliated with a negative review, which is unfair. Travel should be about genuine connections and respect, not exploiting others for personal gain.

I once flew from Germany to Indonesia with Air China on a layover in Beijing. I booked this flight on purpose because I had both times a layover of about 20 hours. I got myself a 44 hours transit visa at the airport and was free to go wherever I wanted in the city. I changed 50€ in Chinese Yuan and got on the subway and explored all of Beijing until late at night. I didn't have a sim card, I didn't have a google translator, but in such a big city like Beijing and Shanghai you could get by without that stuff. I loved Beijing and did not feel at all how you felt. On the way back to Germany I got another transit visa, booked myself a driver and a guide and spent the day exploring the Great Chinese Wall. The guide spoke good English and I had many conversations with him about life in China and Beijing. When we got to the Wall it was so freaking cold, I did not even have a jacket because I spent two months in Indonesia. It was January and -15C. The guide gave me his jacket and gloves and said he doesn't need to go up the wall with me, but he wants me to enjoy the day. I was in Beijing two times for one day 5 years ago and can't wait to go back again for a longer visit. I think you should give China another chance and come back in a couple years from now, and you might have a real good time. Stay safe and enjoy your travels 😎
