Mclaren peaked in wild crazy factor with the P1. It looks as sexy alien as the day it was launched, the handling is edgy but exhilarating, the sounds it makes are still mad, it has absolutely not aged a bit, and is still mental on a track and probably quite a bit better on today's tires.

@@Lucas-m11 Something so styled usually gets dated and looks over the top years later. Not the P1. It's just perfectly coherent front to back. The front end looks like a smiling lady while the back looks like an angry gargoyle with devil horns when the wing is up, and that's exactly how the front and rear of it handle too. The F1 also doesn't look dated at all, it's subtle and looks like it's going fast standing still, but for the lights. You can see they're old tech. T50 will also age well. The Speedtail is also a stunner.

Not just the blow out valves on the let-off, but ALL the noises this car makes. The V8 motor. That faint whine of the (i think) electric motors, the turbos, the blow out valves, all of it... Its absolutely insane. Beautiful. One of the best IN COCKPIT sounding cars in the world. P1 will forever be one of the all time greats. And besides the battery maintenance/replacement, i think the P1 is cooler than the Senna.

Epic Experience James, that was without the use of IPAS or DRS buttons. The P1 is a pure piece of art and the pinnacle of engineering and still looks and sounds as stunning as it did in 2013. A true Icon in both real life and LEGO form. P1 OOV will always hold a special place in my heart.

Spent couple of weeks with in one of those on a test track during it's follower's development, good times. Clocked it at 6.8s 0-200kph, which doesn't seem that fast these days but the noise and RWD certainly made it fun 😅

I’d rather the lighter car with more downforce and less expensive maintenance due to the battery overhauls. We are moving to an age where all the beautiful super cars are becoming hybrids or downsizing so a complete ice car could also hold a higher value long term due to rarity.

@@austinmoore5334 unless you’re a serious track driver you’ll never get near to the limits of either car I don’t think personally, I don’t doubt what your saying about pure ICE being more desirable but I just think they’ll be an exception with the Holy Trinity. The three cars represent a time in automotive history that probably won’t be repeated, much like when the Veyron or F1 came out. Benchmark cars.

@@Rocky-hh3yg even without the driving expertise to get to the point of using full aero the senna is still a tad over 400 pounds lighter. That makes a big difference in driving even without needing to go the pace of a professional driver. That can be felt in any enthusiastic drive with cornering.

Pro hot laps are another level. I have been in fast cars with fast drivers however I once did a hot lap in a road car followed by a 2 seat touring car round Brands with a pro racer and it’s just a different level. I swear my stomach is still lagging from the first 3 corners

I love the Senna, and it's the ultimate track day toy, BUT the P1 is the best looking McLaren ever made. And if it weren't for the hybrid system, it would be my dream McLaren, and that's why the 720S is my dream McLaren. I don't think the 750 looks as good, although it's a better car.

Can’t believe it’s 10 years old now. Jaysus I got old. And let’s be fair, the holy trinity are still more interesting than the latest offerings so far. I think we peaked 2005 - 2018 with best cars. Great noises, better slip controls etc, great styling, some useful tech still had loads of character and mostly well built. Now, numb, overly complicated, no sound, and all those horrendous “safety” features 🤮

If McLaren were to sell an ICE conversion for the P1, allowing the hybrid system to be removed completely, prices would instantly double.

A KZbinr called tavarish bought a flood damaged one and has taken the hybrid system out making the engine produce more horsepower over a thousand because he wants to have the fastest McLaren to in the world.

@@nigelr568 Exactly. And that's crazy. It's only viable for him because he can make content, it's not viable for everyone else. McLaren themselves need to sell a conversion through MSO, like they do with so many mods. Some owners are upgrading their hybrid system, but that will need upgrades and improvements every few years, and that's crazy. Owners will end up spending as much as the price of the car to maintain it. If it weren't for the hybrid system, the P1 would basically be perfection. I don't know why it's taking them so long to do something like this. The truth is, you have to REALLY LOVE the car and be basically filthy rich and not care about the money or the car not running for months waiting for the hybrid system to be fixed or upgraded.

I do not think an ICE only would be OK - as the e-motor provides ‘torque fill’ so they can up the turbo boost and not worry about the lag. The Senna is basically that car you describe (desire?) and they just do not hold their values

@@09juliancarr McLarens don't hold their value very well in general. The Senna and P1 are doing an amazing job, considering. Yes, exactly like the Senna, but for the road, since the Senna is very track-focused. The conversion would be much more than just removing the hybrid system. But anything is possible. The demand for it would be insanely high, if I'm not completely wrong here, and considering the absurd price and waiting time for battery replacement, maybe I'm right. The LaFerrari has the same problem and would probably be much more valuable without the hybrid system as well, but Ferrari doesn't do things like that, Porsche and McLaren might. I've heard the 918 is less of a problem, but not by much, maybe because Porsche generally supports its older cars better than other manufacturers.
