Just for future reference. Anyone doing leaf springs. It's far easier to do both at once. When you do it one side at a time,it can make it hard to undo things and line it all up. it can twist the opposite side up and make it a nightmare to undo as well.

You guys keep putting out quality videos every time. So many young fellas don’t get to spend time with their dad in the machinery shed learning how to do all this sort of stuff. They need you guys to teach them the basics of how to maintain and look after their trucks. You know the stuff like shackle angles, getting the rust off the bushes, greasing the threads, undoing stick bolts wil long arm six sided sockets. Personally, the old gq wagon doesn’t bottom out and I don’t like water so I don’t want more than the 2” it came with. The loss of vision of the track and the reduction in rollover angle combined with either more sway or a harder ride has no benefit to me. These old girls are the mk/mq chassis yeah? I’ve lifted a few of the swbs, if your ever gonna go down the extended shackles route I’d highly recommend snake racing shackles, theee bulletproof and look tough as. Add a bit more flex to and help the shackle angle a bit, Now I’ve watched the end of it I’d definitely be taking a couple of loading springs out and then compensate it with extended shackles..it worked a bloody treat on my old Nissan’s

The main reason youve got a big tradeoff of stiffness for your height seems to be because of this particular set of leaves, its not doing you any favours anyway. Whether its meant for a different model of 4x4 or just not particularly well designed im not sure. For a start, that shackle angle isnt ideal, notice how the stock ones are angled forwards a fair way even under full droop and the new ones are close to vertical? This will make it stiffer/less flexy as you said yourself. Also because theyre actually angled slightly backwards now there is a potential for spring inversion but you can fix that with anti inversion shackles. From what i can tell, the reason the shackle angle has straightened out is because the leaf packs are actually shorter, and that also reduces the amount of flex you can get/stiffer ride. So youve actually got 2 things working against you in terms of ride and flex. Ideally the lift kit would have a combination of longer springs and shackles designed properly for the car. Youd raise the height whilst maintaining a similar or lower springrate, and this is what you typically get when you buy a good lift kit. You can also play around with removing leaves and resetting the camber, effectively lengthening the spring, then just add some longer shackles to regain the height which might get you to a more desireable ride Good, informative video on the process though, you're great in front of the camera and for a measly 200 bucks its a much tougher looking rig either way👍👍 earned a sub

Great work on a budget. I reckon you'd want to take a leaf out of the front pack though to improve the ride, flex, legality and get rid of the invisible caravan. You don't need so much lift in the front to fit your tyres and it's not increasing ground clearance, probably limiting flex
