I LOVE HOW AMAZING OF A DAD HE IS TO FRANKIE(NOT EVEN HIS BIOLOGICAL SON) HE DOESN'T JUST SPOIL HIM WITH GIFTS AND PRESENTS AND MONEY. HE'S AN ACTUAL DAD TO HIM! TEACHING HIM THINGS, HELPING HIM WITH THINGS, MAKING MEMORIES WITH HIM.💙

We all do hope that Frankie realizes how much he's really loved because his stories are just awesome we feel like we grew up with him least I do anyways. One day Frank you'll see the reality of it It wasn't him getting poked fun of out of spider meanness It was out of he truly loved his son and he wanted to share that with us and that's how we fell in love with Frankie as well

This!! My grandma had me call collect to let her know I made it home every time I left their house. We lived 45 minutes apart and it was required by her, (God rest her soul!) to call collect so she would know that I made it home safely. I can still hear her declining the call. To a lot of folks it may be crazy and many don’t understand, but memories like these make me smile to this day. A frugal, funny and smart lady. I miss her so much. ❤

My mom always had me call when I got home, or to where I was going, so that she knew I made it safely. Not a collect call, just let it ring twice and hang up. With my kids, it was "text me that you got there okay". I remember overhearing my son tell his friends the same thing, then would come tell me "Soandso made it home!". Last week, we met up for dinner. As we were hugging goodbye, he said to me, "Text me when you get home, Mom." ♥

I agree with Gabriel about phones with high schoolers, but now in colleges and workplaces that have two-factor authentication, if you lose your phone or get it stolen you are absolutely screwed. I unfortunately got mine stolen earlier this year and missed out on several days' work because I couldn't log in

I'm the same. I like to find solutions with someone and look for the win-win. It's a fun bonding experience with people and creates trust. As long as people don't hold the help over someone's head. Good boundaries work. Gabriel did the right things as a dad. Lots of dads just abandon their kids and not even care if they suffer. Frankie went through the typical rich kid lessons. It's ok and I bet he is a better person for it. We all do the best we can.

Oh my God Yes, I remember making collect phone calls when I was out of change. And yes, you did have to be clever about it Just like you said, fluffy, but if Frankie's cellphone did get stolen by someone, i'd be more worried about that person hacking the email and also affecting everybody within the family as well as friends within the family as well. Where it could affect everyone within the family where I would just try to Help get that phone Reported to the authorities out the report. Like Frankie wanted it just because I would not want to worry about someone. Hacking the email in Frankie's phonespecially how things are nowadays Something to think about fluffy.😎👍🏻💯💯💯

Today it is indeed a necessity. For example, if I want to take a bus from my hometown, the only thing provided at the busstop is a QR code, which you need to scan in order to get the timetable for the bus. If I want to be able to get the cheapest fare for my train journey I also need to buy tickets from an app.

I am having this EXACT argument with my son RIGHT NOW!! Lol. The fight is real. He is 11 and he doesn’t have his own phone yet (yeah, I know, this borders on child abuse because I won’t buy him a phone). He keeps using the line (say it with me parents) “I’m the ONLY kid that doesn’t have a phone”. My response, “good, I’ve always liked being different (in other words I’m not like all those other parents)”. All the reasons fluffy listed is why he doesn’t have a phone yet. He’s still to young to understand my rules are in place to protect him so he won’t break them. With maturity comes responsibility and freedom. He’s, also, the youngest so he doesn’t understand why his older sisters have a phone and he doesn’t. His sisters are rarely home AND they follow my rules without question.

This is hilarious! BUT cellphones for teens are not luxuries, maybe not necessities but they make life a lot easier for the parent too and I didn't have time to waste when my kids were growing up. My oldest would babysit the younger for me until I got home from work so she had a cellphone so she could easily contact me if her bus was late or coordinate with a friend to babysit. When my youngest was a teen, he often did volunteer work so I needed to know where to pick him up. I think they earned their phones.

Can someone explain what a collect call is? My school had pay phones mounted all around the school. And there wasn't a collect call concept. You just call someone and depending how long you talk you had to add coins to talk longer. House numbers were cheaper than cellphone numbers.

As teenagers, my two sons got the cell phone that used to look like a Old BLACKBERRY (REMEMBER THOSE?) As my boys KNEW that I wasn't made of money (I was busting my ass with Two full time jobs), they were HAPPY with their new phones (this was in the 2000s)! Trust me, smart phones ARE A LUXURY...until nowadays...

While I do agree, i want to point out that, in this day and age, people's LIVES are on their phone… sometimes their JOB is on their phone… yeah, I'm aware Frankie's a kid, but the fact remains, what if when Frankie gets a job and he gets his phone taken away at work or something and there's an emergency at his job and he can't answer his phone… what then?
