I suggest maybe trying variations of Clove Hitch knots. Lots of knot tying there, that looked sloppy and frustrated. There are better knots that are strong and easier to untie when unpacking.

Why the light action fishing poles? I understand for convenience and ease considering traveling via kayak but sooner or later seems you will inevitably hook a fish that will break the pole and strip the gears out of it! I’ve personally had this happen! I would at least have one 5-6 ft medium action rod and reel for 4-8 pounders!

Use open end of a spoon to scale your fish it will save the edge of your knife.
