I am such a vintage gal. I grew up in the 60’s so I look at my mother for 50’s living. Back then it was the style to pull your hair back (long hair wasn’t in style) and wear a bandana and knot it in the front. Do you know that girls couldn’t wear pants to school until the mid 70’s. I graduated in 1972 and always had to wear a dress. Lol. Moms wore pants but for the most part wore dresses. 😊 just an FYI.

God, why would people get mad at you for not curling your hair right? Wth. I agree that your hair "ruins" the immersion of the whole 50's thing, as women back in the days either had their hair up, or short hair. Long hair is more of a 70's and up kind of trend. But still, people shouldn't tell you to ruin your hair with appliances you don't want to use! You do you!!!

There are great long hair styles for the fifties. My aunt always wore hers in a French twist. Be yourself in the fifties. My mom always wore white Keds but got her hair done at the end of the week and it's lasted till mid week. Just do what makes you happy. I'm sure I'm not the only one who comes mostly for the nostalgia more than authenticity. Give yourself a break. We'll still be here when you get it done. I think you should try a video where you go through trying a wet-set for overnight curls, with if not pin curls (trust me, I understand they're a nightmare) than pillow, foam, or snap rollers . I know you said you've tried but I think it would still be fun if it didn't turn out right.
