Here is the 2022 Cupra Born V3 77 kw E boost. The Cupra Born is cupras take on the ID3 and i must say i think the Cupra Born looks so much better! The 2022 Cupra Born comes in 3 varients when it comes to battery power with the largest getting you over 300 miles of range. What do you think of the Cupra Born?
Here is what is been like to live with the Cupra Born V3 for a month and the truth about the experience.

I think many car reviewers are becoming anesthetised to EV prices. £43K is not what I would call reasonable, especially with a rubbish info. system and brakes that are not up to par. Most European countries and the US get really good government discounts on EV's but we get nowt. Also the charging infrastructure in the UK is shit. Unless things change drastically I wouldn't be looking at an EV.

Really like the look of the Born particularly vs. all those ugly Tesla’s. Currently drive a 4 Series coupe, but struggling to justify the excessive cost of the i4; the born might be the answer, but have owned BMW’s for years and the infotainment system is second to none so no sure I could change to what appears to be a massive backward step? Also trying to decide which colours it looks best in…?

I’ve had my V3 for around a month, infotainment is so frustrating I really don’t know how they make it into final production vehicles when they are so poor. I had an E Niro for a few months before this and other than the screen resolution not being great and not as big it was flawless and speedy to react in comparison. That being said I absolutely love my Born and can live with the dodgy slow/glitchy infotainment as it’s good looking, practical and dare I say it fun to drive!

We’ve now had the Born for three months. So disappointing. Controls and menus a complete shambles and the mobile app is not available in Australia! My wife wanted a smaller car than our Model 3. Now she wishes she’d just bought another Model 3. She’ll be first in line for the Model 2 (or whatever they decide to call it).

Really good review, you picked up on the good and not so good points of the Born 🙂. I've had the 58 kwh for 3 months, love the car, looks good, practical, comfortable, drives well , etc.. - all good. The only bad points are its reliance on the touch screen and haptic buttons - bring back real buttons and knobs !!! - and the software still needs work, it's still buggy (and I'm on version 3.1 !). I'm beginning to wonder if VW will ever get their promised ota updates working. The updated ID3 looks like VW have made that a contender, too.

10:42 Cupra do not advertise it at all that way, only journalists and reviewers call it a Hot Hatch. Regarding the brakes, when in B mode or in D mode, the brake pedal activated reg only, that’s why you probabaly feel they are not as effective, only once pressed harder, do the mechanical brakes start to work. So sporty driving and braking requires a bit more effort on the pedals, but by that time, you start to feel the weight of the car and tend to reel it back in a bit.

I had the chance to swap my Hyundai Kona electric for Born, but decided against it. Passenger room was bad for 5 (even if 3 of them are kids). Harder over speedbumps and the cockpit felt more squished than the Kona. Range on the Kona is 440 km in the warmer weather and the Born only 375. It looks great, much nicer than the Kona, but the Kona is more practical, has better infotainment. The Born wins by a mile in looks though

I went from a 1st gen E-niro to a Born....and it sucks! It is a very beautiful car but i'm going to park it and buy a secondhand car during the lease contract, it's that bad! The infotainment system is rubbish, totally unusable. The scrolling touch buttons are a nightmare to use, you cant change the temperature or the blower settings while driving, the view is the worst i've ever had, the A pillars are massive, the rear view is none existing. It has a rear view camera but that's useless as it's a weird angle and way down on the bumper so it's dirty all the time. unusuable. The range is 300km (185M) on the 58kw battery according to the estimate...and that's off, I get around 220km and it doesn't adjust after a charge so it keeps saying it will do 300km. then when you charge it's SLOW. I didn't get more than 43kw while my old Niro would get up to 60 in this weather.

Perhaps I’m biased as a long-term Tesla M3 owner, but OMG! How do you deal with all the buttons and displays on the wheel, the dash, the HUD etc? The thing I love about the Tesla is the lack of distractions. There is the road ahead of you and that’s where your attention needs to be. If you need to see the speed it’s easy to flick your eyes to the side, the same as looking at the wing mirrors. That said my wife has put a deposit on a Born, simply because the Tesla is so big. When Tesla brings out a more sensible-sized ‘city’ car I think other EV makers will be in serious trouble.

I’ve had my 58kwh V2 and I’m sorry but a lot of your negative points are way off. You can’t be a very good driver and obviously brake to late. I use regenerative braking and rarely use the brake. It may be a weight thing with the brakes though as the 77kwh is considerably heavier than the 58kwh. The infotainment system is getting better with each update which happens automatically. I agree the rip off that is the public charging network is ridiculous and if you don’t have the capability of home charging then it is a little bit of a issue. If you do have home charging available I am saving about £80 a month compared to my old ICE Puma. I am on the octopus agile with a Ohme pro charger on average it costs me £6 to charge from 25-80. In fact over the last couple of weeks I charged my car for free at home. I think for a person that can charge at home an EV is a no brainer for those that can only public charge it’s 60/40.

The Born is so much more fun and feels much more premium whereas the ID.3 just seems to be completely void of creativity. The only thing I preferred about the ID.3 was the way more intuitive software on the touchscreen which unfortunately really is a mess in the Cupra. Still, as you said: with Apple CarPlay it does not really matter (aside from the air conditioning controls).

@@taylorthrall7321 I did not feel issues with the suspension, even though there was a bumpy several kilometres long dirt road I had to use. Of course there was a 30 kph speed limit which was justified. I would not have gone faster with any other car, though. But suspension is a very individual thing so it largely depends on your experience with other cars (remembering the very stiff Suzuki Jimny my father once owned) and personal preference.

But you DON'T "lose 35-45 minutes of your life" charging. You keep busy with jobs. I have done everything from sorting my home insurance or finishing projects in my nice comfortable EV while public charging! My wife prefers catching up with watching Eastenders etc on her smartphone while in her EV public charging. Otherwise we are both charging at home 99% of the time! While we get on with our lives. No time is being WASTED!!! Unlike the sad people filling up with "dino juice". Add up the amount of wasted time doing that over your life and you will be shocked. Don't miss that AT ALL! Saying that, because the sales of EVs are so HUGE they are outnumbering the installation of rapid chargers massively. But ICE petrol stations have had a hundred year head start. EV multipoint rapid chargers will catch up pretty damn quickly. Then it won't matter if you have your own charger at home or not. Just fill at a rapid charger like you do at an ICE petrol station now. But you can still keep busy doing stuff whilst in the car. Just have to think differently mate. The tech is only getting better and faster (range, efficiency and charge times).

Sure there are issues in the production of batteries, just as there are issues manufacturing all cars, especially those with huge numbers of moving parts. For EVs this happens once, at the beginning of their lifecycle. For ICE cars there is a constant need for petrol, lubrication fluids that also need to be disposed of, and a regular supply of replacement parts. And name calling is not debate.

Meanwhile in China where there is no real legacy ICE car industry, EV companies are starting unhindered by huge inventories of ICE cars, countless dealer networks and suppliers of radiators, exhaust systems , fuel management systems etc etc. A new golf is £26k+ and does 570 miles on a tank of fuel. and ID3 is £36+ and does 266 miles on a charge. That is not value for money, period.
