They all knew they were about to get crushed. One of the themes behind the game was the politics of church and state during a time of an imminent doomsday. The governor was torn between evacuating the people from the town, or keeping faith that their giants would protect them and continue the festival. The two opinions were represented by the carpenters and the guards. That's why at the end of the game the carpenters are laughing and cheering while the guards are standing in disbelief.

I found an interesting verse related to the ruppes. Ezekiel 7:19 They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will become abhorrent to them. Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to save them in the day of Jehovah’s. They will not be satisfied, nor will they fill their stomachs, for it has become a stumbling block causing their error. 20 They took pride in the beauty of their ornaments, and they made with them their detestable images, their disgusting idols. That is why I will make their silver and gold an abhorrent thing to them.

It was developed during an unique time. Back then we were more guillible and supersticious, I am meaning society as a whole. So there were news, articles and all kind of people believing the 1st of 2000 the world was going to end. It was crazy. The trailer for MM, which I remember like it was yesterday, depicted a end of the world kind theme. Of course it was launched by the end of 2000, but you get the idea. On top of that Aonuma was so stressed because Miyamoto, his boss, was pressuring him with the deadline (the schedule was note, basically a year to develop the entire game. Even recycling props, code, designs it was too much) and Aonuma himself developed depression, anxiety and hated the whole process. He has even mentioned he is ashamed of MM. He thinks he was not in a good mindstate and the game ended of being that dark, which is very uncharacteristic of Nintendo. For example, OoT can have horror and spooky elements, but its more balanced with other quirky, happy and weird stuff. Whereas MM from the surface to the core is grim. And the themes are more close to death and grief than anything.

Aonuma delivered, though. This is still in my opinion the best 3D Zelda title by far, and was very clearly shafted by biased reviewers at the time. Everything about the game was a clear improvement over OOT; graphics, framerate, engaging story, replayability . . eveything but the story length which I quickly forgot due to the games incredible immersiveness, replayability, and vast content (for the time). The game seemed small at first, but once you dive in it's so rich and big. Majora's Mask is a masterpiece, and I'm glad I didn't jump on the bandwagon OOT biased disregard back then and fully enjoyed it for the amazing game it was. Nintendo's weird. Sometimes it seems like the longer they work on a title, the worse it ends up because they second guess and cut so much content and gameplay. BOTW was a very good Zelda game, but Majora's Mask is in its own league.

Well... it has a remaster. For 3DS. Actually, I just played it a little, but MM 3DS have a beautiful controled camera: The gameplay experience is really improved respect the original game. I always wished Ocarina and Majora's had a full controlled camera in the day. It was the worst thing of these games not having an option to control it: The player can miss many visual details, and much of the beauty these games potencially had using different camera angles... (Z trigger barely fulfill the task, being only good to just letting you play the game when the automatic camera can't do the job). The unofficial PC port of Ocarina is being promoted in the internet for its 60 frames gameplay (by the way, a very problematic and glitched mode... at least for now) ... but the real deal in that port, no doubt, is the new an easy camera control it can use. Makes the game more cinematic.

Zelda games can be pretty dark for being games aimed towards children. Not that it’s a bad thing either, there’s a lot less of that than there is the upbeat positive stuff which is probably good though lol, I don’t think you want too much of it. I think it’s a very careful line that has to be walked in order to incorporate more dark aspects of reality into children’s entertainment without it being too heavy and having a negative effect on them and Zelda in the N64 era did it masterfully. OOT and MM are the single most significant nostalgic pieces of entertainment to me. I’ll never forget how astonished I was when I left the Temple Of Time as adult Link for the first time. To see the world in ruins when just 5 minutes before everything was cheerful with happy music playing. I’ll never not appreciate that I got to play these games as a child, it was something special to experience them when they were at the cutting edge of technology. I hope future generations of children get their own personal experience in gaming that resonates and is as meaningful to them as Zelda was with me. If they ever remade these games in a way that pays them the proper honor that they deserve I would buy them for my kids and if it doesn’t vibe with them that would be fine, I would definitely be playing them myself lol. “On my business card, I am a corporate president. Unfortunately, it's sort of a product of it's era, at least with that time span. Games today have a lot more of well, everything. So unless the game changes literally nothing about it's world locations from one game to another I don't see it being possible. Given a lot more time however, and i could totally see it working

I don't know what's more depressing; the moon falling or the fact that this guy's entire life savings is just a single silver rupee, purple rupee, or worse, just one red rupee.

Him begging to the Goddess of Time for saving him is oddly creepy, but also terrifying, horrific and somewhat tragic. Damn, Majora didn't mess around half-heartedly with Termina!

Because of paintings of Skull Kid in the house and the fact that no one, not this guy nor the stalchildren inside who are "investigating" it, seems to know who previously lived in the Oceanside Spider House, there's an implication that it was used as a hideout by Skull Kid before the events of the game. I would love to know if there's a dialogue change to the carpenter who yells up to the scared guy on the festival tower (in this video) when you clear the house on the first day since that makes him leave Clock Town early. The cursed rich man from the Swamp Spider House is implied to have gotten at least part of his wealth by gambling at the dog race track. If you talk to his dog, he says he's a racing dog and misses the ranch.
@davisbowe86682 жыл бұрын
I feel like it's possible that he could survive since the house is pretty far from the impact zone and it does go pretty deep underground. The problem is, the house itself would probably cave in and block off the exit meaning he would likely end up being trapped inside.
@nateriver18842 жыл бұрын
Tbh it's still very close to impact range. I mean, it's obviously not the moon, and it's not going very fast, but it's a damn big meteor and the blast would be huge

Another year, another small interaction I've never seen in MM. Not once did I think to check in on him on the final day after I'd finished the house. This is why MM is still my favorite game, made in a year and yet every single year since I first played it I've learned at least one new thing about it.

When the facts were presented, on the First Day, he first warned his carpenter friend by waving his arms towards his friend whom was working at the top of the tower that would lead to the stairs that would open at midnight on the Third Day, warning him of the coming fate. When his friend would not listen, he went to the top of a pillar near Ikana canyon and waved at the moon and warned people passing by to take refuge, yet people still bickered in denial in Clock Town debating if the Moon would fall. The last place of refuge was in solace and realism in the low dungeons of Termina near the Great Bay Coast. At least he attempted to live in his "Ark" as a protection against the Moon falling by invoking the Goddess of itme and recognised the facts without question or ego for survival only. God I miss this game. Joel 2:10 Before them the earth quakes, The heavens tremble, The sun and the moon grow dark And the stars lose their brightness.

I feel bad for this dude. I remember this part in the game. He seemed really desperate to find a safe place to hide that he gave up all his money. This game really delivered with the whole impending doom that's to come! It's pretty much a hopeless situation for everyone and what everyone is feeling. Some don't care and courageously confront the situation while other people are panicking as the menacing moon slowly descends upon Termina to cause its destruction! It's what pretty much everyone in the real world feels right now for the past 2 years.
