I’m giggling over here. We volunteered for years with raising service and clinical therapy dogs. Teaching your dog to paw open the dog with the big, positive reinforcement of a “yayyyyyyyy”, that tail wag was priceless! 😂 thank you so much for sharing this video and giving all your viewers a chuckle.

My service dog opens and closes doors and cupboard doors like that. I taught her just like they did. I gave her a ton of praise and treats every time she did it. I love seeing how happy she gets when she gets it. She looks up at me with that "did I get it, mom?" look.

@@Dancestar1981 It sadly is for some pups. In reality, I would never want my pups to actually go through that. We have an adorable doggie day care where I live and I love that it is there and affordable for those whose dogs do have separation anxiety. Some dogs go there every day while their hoomans are at work... and the doggos receive treats, they play with one another, and the staff get them involved in active play with their many toys and their obstacle course. They even have a potbelly pig who attends the daycare each day... the dogs have accepted Pork and Beans as part of the pack. Lol. The lyric was funny to me anyway, because I have some dogs in my extended family who do not have actual separation anxiety, but they are very dramatic and like to play up their woes to complain to their hoomans. One throws herself on her back in a dramatic show of displeasure over her brother stealing her bed. Another acts like the world is ending if her food doesn't come right on time. So, to me, the lyric is more a nod to drama from doggos than actual separation anxiety.

That was our Goldie. We had him for almost 12 years. Been 8 years this October since he went to doggie heaven. Was great on long road trips and moved with us 6 times, 6 states and never complained as long as he was with us. Miss him still.

Yeah, my cats follow me everywhere. When I'm in the living room, they're on the cushion next to me, or sleeping behind me. When I go to bed, they follow me upstairs. When I take a shower, they cry outside the bathroom door. Whenever someone talks about how independent and standoffish cats are, I wonder how many cats they've actually lived with!

Schnauzer owner here! This is my guy too! Except he can't open doors, so he'll be patiently waiting outside the bathroom door for me every time! Fun fact: dogs hold eye contact to their owners / pack members because when they are doing their ... job... this is when they feel most vulnerable and open to attacks. This is so true. My older dog (9 f) has trouble going up our wooden stairs because she has arthritis. It’s always so sad when everyone goes upstairs at night and she just sits at the bottom of the stairs and watches us go before going and laying on the couch by herself because our other dog (4 m) sleeps in my parents bedroom for most of the night, sometimes going downstairs to cuddle with his big sister. She will not leave our sides for a moment if we are on the main floor or in the basement, where the stairs are carpeted, always wanting pets and food.

I've seen videos of folks that customized it by removing the chair made for a human, and mounting a wooden crate upon it for their dog. 💕

Yep, you nailed it. My terrier, Pepper, is “stuck like glue”. I’m trying to teach him to sleep in his doggy bed because I swear he’s the reason I wake up in the middle of the night. He has to be touching me and if he’s dreaming those little feet are wiggling I’m sure it’s waking me up. I too had to teach my dog to open the door because he is standing and barking expecting me to give him permission to go through it or open it.
