One of my best friends in New York, for years was from Ireland, still spent all his summers there, never lost any of his accents, had many friends in New York with the accident, I asked him what he thought of Brad’s performance is the Irish Gypsy, he said he was brilliant
@JCS1964-i7w4 ай бұрын
I worked in concrete in NYC with all Irish guys. We would all sit around and talk about this movie and I often heard from my Irish friends what a great job he did in this movie. It’s funny, because I’m NY born and raised and I worked with the Irish so long I actually can understand most of what he is saying. Side note the Irish are not fond of Irish Gypsy’s and it’s a big insult to call a fellow Irish man a “tinker” which is their slang for a Gypsy
@user-zy1sq3cg9m4 ай бұрын
They are not disliked. They are just different and a stick to their own. Are your friends in new York American or Irish? If born in the States not Irish, we don't like it when US people come here claiming to be Irish and Scottish etc when they sound nothing like us. FYI
@JCS1964-i7w4 ай бұрын
@@user-zy1sq3cg9m FYI my Irish friends are all right “off the boat” Irish and I’m very familiar what how the Irish feel about the “plastic Patties” which is how they refer to Irish Americans who have Irish names on their drivers license which is the plastic reference And, Yes they don’t like “tinkers” and it’s and insulting to refer to one by that name And I’ll tell you why they don’t like them. It’s because they will go into a neighborhood and make a mess and bring the home prices down. I worked with some these guys for over 30 years and some of them I have become great friends with to this day! FYI

First off, the movie gets better the more you watch it. Secondly there is so much underrated talent in this movie and I agree with the person below- soundtrack is untouchable. Pitt is a GENIUS in this movie- bar NONE his greatest role ever and should get multiple oscars for it. I'm proud to say I was born in an era where appreciation of movies like this is something of a lost art today. God bless the 50s - early 2000 before it all went down the toilet.

Well it's an exaggeration of course. It's just playing on the stereotype that gypsies are renowned bare knuckle fighters, which many are since theyre very young, which make them not easy to beat in a fight. But of course the fight scene isn't realistic
