@@afterburner2869 I'm sure they CAN play and sing. But this is a pantomime for visual. They have previously recorded tracks and mixed them. Then they replay the audio recording while filming themselves acting like they are playing live around a condenser mic. Then they splice edit the video and replace they audio with the recording. Its a common technique used these days on KZbin vids. I'm just against it. Because I would have rather seen them do it for real. Its basically a music video. Who knows what sort of manipulation was done during the sound production>? Could have been other people playing some of the parts, autotune, editing out mistakes, most certainly tracks were recorded separately. This is why the sound quality is so high. I picked up on it in the first minute.

Yep, they were doing that in the US, as young kids, while we here, down under, were still singing "Down yonder green valley where streamlets meander..." from the Ash Grove song. The minute a couple of we primary school kids started harmonizing...we were told off...so staid and pedestrian music was the format then. It was so old fashioned, even in the sixties....then in 3rd year of high school, we got a new music teacher who played guitar...wow. Australian public schools (to those overseas, public schools are government schools).Our schools were very conservative. Harmonies were out of the question, before the new teacher.

@@brianmorris8045 I absolutely love harmony singing. It has been all but lost. It is beautiful. It is not old fashioned. It's just that with today's climate in music they have gone the other way. It WILL come back like trends do. Everley brothers...superb. Mc Calmans...superb. Barbershop...superb. A lot of people cannot do the art. I listen to a lot of German Blassmusik whereas it is all sung in harmony. It is this aspect that touches my musical vibes, emotions and so forth that when sung beautifully enough my eyes fill up and then stream. I guess music is that powerful. Thanks fer yer input mate. This group has the talent to propel them to stardom. I compare them to the Beachboy's group. who weren't the greatest musicians around but their excellent vocals and songs made them famous. The Beachboys recorded only with studio musicians but this group does it all. Someone please get them on a national tour.

My grandma used to sing this ! She was from Ga . Her church had no piano or organ so they sang " by the note " . Someone would give the key note and everybody sang as they remembered sharing the few hymnals they had . As a young child I had thought grandma couldn't carry a note in a tin bucket , so she explained that's all they knew and and memorized !

Hi Annette, A friend of mine, Albert E. Brumley, wrote that song for acapella singing "by the notes". Albert wrote a lot of songs. The church of Christ, a large portion of Lutherans, Greek Orthodox, early Catholic, early Methodists, and many other groups either use to or still worship by vocal harmony. I love these instruments, but wasn't the harmonizing fantastic?

Since my first viewing of this song by these young people, I have watched it many more times. The more I watch it, the more I appreciate how talented they are and how they were taught...they are all incredible. I have never heard a better rendition of this song than what I saw here. My father grew up during the Great Depression on farms and ranches stretching from Missouri all the way up to the Dakotas. The earliest phrase I recall learning was "Keep your cotton-picking hands off...." this or that. :-) Miss ya, Dad!
