I’m an anime-only, but I assume that you’ve read the webnovel? I’ve heard the light novel and the web novel are different with regards to this, and the anime is adapting the light novel

In the Light Novel, Julius tells him the demands and there is no specific conversation between Subaru, Julius, and Garfiel. It's kind of crazy how much Arc 5 is changed between versions.

Ok I know Emilia doesn't realize how twisted Regulus is, but shouldn't she realize that many marriages are just to tie the families together? There should be examples within the nobility. In general, a political marriage didn't need both sides to love each other. they just needed to be somewhat amicable since if they hate each other there is a good chance of affairs and bastard children, which always cause a scandal.

Emilia grew up in the woods without any contact with the outside society (or even her own society considering fortuna did her best to keep Emilia locked in her room for whatever reason) and had little to no memories of her childhood until the events of sanctuary/season 2 then was sheltered in rosawaals mansion for like a year until Subaru showed up she didn’t really have any chances to see or hear about political marriages Also writing it this way makes it sound worse but I’m not great at wording things

@@haxt97 My point being is at 1:57 she is asking a pretty basic question that she should know the answer to even before meeting Regulus. With Regulus, he doesn't care about his wives. Even among normal nobles who aren't selfish pricks, trying to make each other happy by being with each other is desired, but secondary to family ties.
