The punt was the attack before the hullbreak horror, missed lethal. same line but crew + attack all: 15. spread the counters is 17 + 5 if you crew. all the counters on the trampler for 19 + 5 if you crew. Not to mention the tutor in hand 😅

Seth missed the chance to win that last game. He didn't realize Oyaminartok had lost hexproof due to blocking. He could have used his Hullbreaker Horror trigger to bounce the commander. Thankfully he didn't realize. It was nice to see the opponent win against that very overwhelming board state.

That's how I tried to build my Winter deck. I really wanted a draw punishing Commander and Winter's the best we have on Arena. Unfortunately from my experience, what happens is Winter draws the opponent into removal every time and they just use that removal on all my draw punisher cards, then I'm left without a way to win while they keep slamming threats they rip with Winter's extra draws. Hate that the card lets the opponent draw during my turn so that they have a full turn (2 if they have instants) to cast whatever they draw.

Yep, that's how I built mine. Played all the card draw hate and all the discard payoffs and it works pretty well. It only takes about 10 slots and most of them are enchantments and artifacts so you get extra card types. I also went with a Lhurgoyf sub theme by accident since one of the only two Kindred cards on Arena is a 5-mana artifact that basically turns everything into a Tarmogoyf (I think, I don't know. I never cast it, it's literally just in the deck to go to the graveyard 😂)

They added a toughness to Haywire Mite so it didn’t die to Orcish Bowmasters when those two cards were legal together in Alchemy. It was one of the only ways to deal with The One Ring. And I guess they never reverted it, since why would they?

To all Arabella players, don’t forget to go into full control when attacking. Saffron Olive’s OP missed some damage from the Krenko token generation. You can have triggers like Krenko, Adeline, Rabble Rousing, Anim-Pakal, and Squee resolve first, then Arabella’s creature count is higher because those tokens hit the battlefield before her trigger. That's the general theory because of how it played out in Alchemy, but it was rebalanced before Bowmasters even came out, and then it wasn't reset when they nerfed Bowmasters. The buffed version also gains 3 life instead of 2. The stated reason for the buffs was basically "mono red". Kumano + Mechanized Warfare + End the Festivities was a popular deck at the time, and the buffs are good against that combination of cards, so that might have been all there was to it, but they definitely could have been bracing the Mite for the incoming Bowmasters as well.

In terms of minimizing Winter's downside, you have a few options! Orcish Bowmasters and other draw punish effects work, but the big one is discard effects! Spectres and such work really nicely with Winter, since the big downside of discard is that it does nothing if the opponent is empty handed - something Winter fixes! You can go even further and use things which trigger whenever your opponents discard like the Bat God!

I think the extra toughness on Haywire Mite is supposed to be 1) so it doesn't die to bowmasters so 2) it can exile The One Ring. It's a buff to a card that sees play to try and help counter a busted card without having to nerf it.

I think to really make this deck perform at its best it might be best to punish opponents for card draw with stuff like Bowmasters, Sheoldred, Fate Unraveler, Kederekt Parasite etc...and run all the red discard wheels. That might help deal with decks like that Arabella deck.

Before watching the video: I don't know, as someone that loves jank/combos/locks the idea of reducing the opponent's hand size to zero is great, but at the cost of them drawing three cards a turn cycle, that's pretty painful. Hell, it's not even like they're cardless on your turn thanks to the timing, so many counterspells and such would still be in play.
